I played back in 5th/6th edition (though was aware of earlier editions when I was younger) and the inclusion of Orks in the latest launch box pulled me back in.

I finished building and spraying last night.

Ork Boyz and Grots are sprayed black then grey, should make speed painting them/slap chop easier. I plan to batch paint these to get through them I think. Ork vehicles and bosses painted black for a more traditional, slower deliberate paint method. I’ll paint these start to finish one at a time, hopefully improving each time. Marines are sprayed pink, initially I was going to make these Imperial Fists, but I’m not sure. I’ll stick to the yellow colour scheme though.

There’s a red sprayed Rhino in the back there. I bought some Chaos/Red Corsair boxes, and I let my 4 year old son pick out a model from the local game shop. He picked a Rhino (and often runs around the house with it shouting “boom boom”). He helped build it, I sprayed it Red and we’ll paint it together.

The last set I bought and used was Dark Vengeance. I started with AoBR and immediately fell in love with Orks. L I did buy Leviathan, but life got in the way and I ended up donating it to a local school club. My son is a bit older now, so I think I have the time to get back into the hobby. Orks being in this box is perfect for me.

The addition of contrast/speed paints really excites me, should make even my terrible paint skills look reasonable on the table.

I’ve bought some black and grey spray. Some speed/contrast paints, some brushes, some clippers, some sand paper and a knife.

Not sure the point of this post, other than to say hi and that I’m excited to be back.

Any recommended purchases that I’ve probably overlooked?

I just want this to push devs to crack the meta headsets wide open. Unlock the bootloader, let me flash SteamOS. I don’t want new hardware but I do want to be free of meta and the quest is the only thing keeping me there, even if it’s with a throw away account.

Asking questions in a public forum (after searching imo) is generally a positive thing. Answers are then public and the next person with the question can find the answer. That sort of behaviour should be encouraged, and no one will ever complain about it imo.

I’d very much like the dad mmo lab project to do UO next.

I want single player UO with bots controlling other PCs

£58 seems reasonable. They seem to have the got the digits typos though, shows at £85 for me.
