PeppermintOS: greeter setting wrong? (lemm.ee)

Hi, i hope someone can help me with this one

I logged-in, changed the touchpad behaviour,. It works as expected. But when log-out, the settings didn't change in the greeter. Reboot doesnt change that.

:~$ cat/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf | grep greeter-session

greeter-session=lightdm-greeter

Is that the right greeter? I heard it should be greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter instead. Does LightDM default to a different setting?

What can i do to get the touchpad right in the greeter?

i think this is a good example how less quantity can sometimes expose quality. The few people i needed were active.

Its not Ex Machina, but has some similarites. The movie is obviously longer but this is what i remember:

In a remote house someone is trying to connect with the outside world but there are some technical difficulties. The only bridge that connects the house to the exit doesn't seem to work either.

spoilerThe person realizes they are just an AI stuck in a simulation. Thats why they cant get out and cant connect to the rest of the world.

Movie is therefore similar because of AI with Ex Machina, Moon, Welt am Draht

Is this a good channel to ask that? Let me know if its better somewhere else

I am not sure if that is even a movie, short film, episode, theater play, etc. And i probably remember things wrong. But the entire thing is just the pilot in his cockpit of a spy airplane. Should be Cold ware era. There is some technical disturbance and he gets lost over eastern Europe (?). So he uses his radio and finds someone to talk to and get help.

Even though it seems so low budget, it is quite exciting because you want to know what will happen next.

spoilerDuring his talks on the radio, it seems unclear if he is actually talking to an ally or if it is Sowjets acting as Americans. They tell him to follow their directions and land somewhere and the scene ends.

[solved]: gHub-GUI seems outdated. openRGP does what i need instead.

Hi, i'd like to use my Logitech G915 LEDs properly under KDE neon and since logitech only provides for Win or Mac, someone recommended gHUB-GUI. https://github.com/ysph/gHub-GUI

I tried the little installation instructions on https://github.com/ysph/gHub-GUI but something does not seem to work. This is not my first git app(?), but the first one i can't seem to use. I tried to ask ChatGPT but it...

are you sure its 2 times the capacity per person now? Because that makes no sense. Without additional info, there should be the same amount of people using the same capacity of bathrooms now.

Just the number of bathrooms usable per person has changed, so you are more likely to have a bathroom nearby. But you don't have more room or more toilets per sé.

If you encrypted your disk/partition, the lock is stored in the luks header. But if that one is broken, you cant decrypt anything even if you remember your key and all data is lost.

Hi, i am on KDE Neon and would like to use Browser Integration with KeePassXC and the guides say i should use a custom browser configuration location similar to the one of firefox. This worked on Kubuntu, when chosing Browser type: Firefox and using the native-messaging-hosts location of Librewolfs.

But this time i dont have one:

that is very good news, thank you. I was actually ok with the kcd1 performance, had decent fps at least outside of towns. If kcd2 is even better, than i should do just fine. Thanks guys!

CPU, boards and RAM sticks barely degrade over time

thank you! I actually buy used things often, just with CPUs i didn't, assuming i never know if people did overclocking or abuse them... Do you think it is safe enough? Then i would totally do it.

The 5600 comes with a stock cooler

I was going to buy it 'tray', as they cost more boxed (15- 30€). And i heard that boxed coolers are often bad. I would try to get a better cooler for a budget close to that difference.

Hey guys, please review my upgrade considerations.

Goal: good bang for the buck upgrade. No need for high end. Just a cheap but good step forward. Does my choice make sense or do you think this little step is not worth it? I am a little flexible on the budget. Is there something more valuable in that range?

Duties:

  • mostly workstation / office / many browser tabs / hobby programming (small projects) / a couple apps incl. electron apps running at the same time
  • little gaming (grand strategy). So far the GPU and RAM are ...fine, i guess. I will upgrade them some time in the future, to play KCD2
  • no video editing, almost no 3d modeling, little virtualization, no Image processing

Current system:

  • i5-7600K CPU
  • MS-7A71 mainboard
  • 16 GiB of RAM (slow 2133 MT/s)
  • Radeon RX 480 Graphics

Low cost upgrade idea:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6x 3.50GHz So.AM4 90€
    • there is a 5600X for 100€ but just 1% faster in benchmarks
  • Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 AMD B550 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail € 106
    • There are B550s for 10€ cheaper but this one supports my old DDR4-2133 RAMs and up to DDR4-3200

196€ for a good upgrade doesn't sound too bad. I probably need a new cooler too because of the new socket. I could get faster RAMs but figured that i would probably not feel the difference. These give me upgrade options in the future but don't cost much right now, since i hope to keep all other parts (PSU, midi tower, etc.). Is it correct, that i don't need a new PSU since the power consumption does not increase (for now)? And does the old PSU cable fit the new mainboard?

What else do i need to consider?

incorrect, that is not what this means. They could have forgotten about the position setting all together. Also why the suns position? it is also moving and non absolute, just like earths. Makes no difference in this meme
