Moms for Liberty has heavily promoted trainings for conservative activists on how to take over school boards, which ought to make clear how we should understand stories like this one, which just sound like a racist tantrum in a Texas suburb. These aren't random or isolated events — they're part of a large, well-organized and well-financed attack on public education across the country.

I feel like it's important to keep the eye on the ball here. The right has been incredibly successful at organizing at the local level and has flipped a lot of seats because of it, and not just in the rural south either.

The US funding and arming far right militias as a means of attacking a geopolitical rival has historically always been a good idea and resulted in very few consequences

Can someone please remind AOC that she called the migrant detention centers concentration camps and then ask her to give us an update on the progress towards shutting these facilities down? I'd hate for her to forget how rapidly she sold out

We’re moving slowly but surely closer to the short fiction dystopian sci-fi stories where autonomous fighting machines continue to wage war long past the death of the last human

Historically you have to campaign as being against the war but then promptly set about the business of creating a war once in office

People don’t talk about rural poverty much - or when they do it’s about the absolute poverty of Appalachia - but there’s been a massive hollowing out of the rural regions between metropoles due to the end of military keynesianism. Bush gutted and neoliberalized the military during the Iraq war and in doing so started to drain out one of the only economic inflows into many of the poorer regions in the south. Recruiting numbers aren’t just down because people don’t want to be war criminals, they’re down because joining up is no longer the guarantee of economic stability that it used to be

Short soviet tanks have bad gun depression for shooting overhills but have lower profiles and are harder to hit at distance. NATO tanks are historically the inverse

Rogan is the last living Ron Paul style libertarian who’s left wing on most lifestyle social issues and drug decriminalization but also totally happy to yes and all of the atrocities of empire provided they put the treats in his mouth. It’s peak dumb guy centrism and honestly it’s the best you can hope for in most of your day to day social interactions
