I think it's more complicated. Frome top of my head, the company who sells them makes more money from servicing them than from sales. And they use arguably predatory practices to make 3rd party service impossible. Jet there is some ownership overlap, so there are some shady incentives to allways choose this sub-obtimal contractor.
