Nikki de Jager (who was supposed to be the spokesperson) said on TV that it didn't feel right to hand out points. The Dutch broadcaster then told the EBU to just figure it out themselves.
Käärijä (Finland) also stepped down but got replaced, and Alessandra (Norway) already stepped down earlier because of Isreal.
Highlights from the Dutch broadcast (paraphrased):
- "The EBU reminded us that we're contractually obligated to do this broadcast."
- "Instead of the Netherlands we skip to Isreal, good thing they are completely uncontroversial."
- "Everyone makes mistakes, the EBU also knows a lot about that."
Maybe they're Dutch, there it's only done for words that end in a vowel. Probably not though.
