Sadly, there wouldn't be any laws broken if the new legislature simply reversed any bills passed under the Biden administration or ~~if~~ when the Trump cabinet pulls a 180 on executive branch policy positions. Kind of speaks to the need for quasi-independent agencies, staffed by subject matter experts and operating beyond the reach political cycle. A pipe dream at this point.

Sheesh. How would the uniformed learn anything in your version of the world? People aren't born with perfect omniscience. Skepticism and uncertainty exist, plain and simple. Fill in information asymmetries with quality information. That's all that can be done.

Does this mean we're near the end?

[-] hyperreal@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yeah that's crazy to me. Of course it's sad that we are at this point but to suggest that the article shouldn't be written is just silly. What's the alternative? Just isolate ourselves in our little echo chambers? People aren't as intelligent as we'd like to believe. Moreover, confirmation bias and selective reasoning are strong behavioral forces. There has to be some middle ground between grossly unprofessional profit seeking and state run media.

Musk's whole "slash government spending" schtick is such a farce. Tesla wouldn't have domestic manufacturing facilities without a DOE loan. SpaceX survives off of government contracts.

It didn't help. Nor does the electoral college, gerrymandering, first-past-the-post, unmitigated influence of well funded interest groups, etc. But I think we just need to accept that people are stupid.

The impact of Citizens United v. FEC (2010) cannot be overstated.

The quote you chose from that source is a bit misleading. 7.6 million voting eligible people in Georgia. Still an insane amount of votes to count.

I have a PhD in economics. Saying that the field "pledges" to be able to predict the future is pretty disingenuous. You'd be hard pressed to find any serious researcher in the field with that level of delusion.

Glittercliff v1.0 (lemmy.world)
  • 34 keys, wired ortholinear unibody
  • WeAct Pi Pico
  • Choc Silvers (hotswap)
  • Chicago Steno (all R3) in black resin
  • simple 3dp tray case (friction fit at the moment)

This board is helping me fall back in love with chocs. Going to iterate on the design a bit (want to try wireless, PCB solder nuts, tweaks to the case, etc). Shoutout to the friendly folks on the ergogen server for helping with some firmware questions and build troubleshooting. I tried to get a little too cute with the matrix, trying to save pins even though I was nowhere close to running out. But in the end, works like a charm.

I tried to distill my favorite features of weteor's magnificent Kong for this layout. I loved the thumb cluster but wanted a split 36 key layout. Designed for a pair of socketed purple Pi Picos I had from a previous build. Built with Outemu Cream Yellows.

Note: It seems this repo might be a bit out of date. Thanks to @wiki_me@lemmy.ml, some alternatives to consider:

Or at least half of it. Finishing up the second half now but I couldn't wait to share. XDA Canvas, Milky Yellows, and a case by the talented NGM Design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4145471

I learned about Void recently and really liked some of it's features as a distro (simple packaging system, runit services). Just wanted to hear what others like.

ChonkyKong (lemmy.world)

With PBT Notion and NK Creams. What a delightfully wide Ortho board. Many thanks to

  • weteor for overall board design
  • chewiedies for the case design (chewie also printed this case and sent me the PCB)

All I really had to do was solder on some sockets.

Haven't changed anything major in a while and feeling very productive. Feel free to ask for any details.
