Agreed, it's the same in the US. Flying is much faster and often significantly cheaper. I wish rail was more economical, would love to take a sleeper train to travel the country but I can't justify the price.
Thanks for the pointers! For context, English is my only language, but the premise applied to other languages is the same, so thanks!
That's really impressive, I do wish I took learning another language more seriously when I was younger. Everyonce Ina while I try to dig back into it but lose motivation for one reason or another.
What did you find to be the most helpful starting out?
Ah shit so it does. Thanks for the tip! I feel like a fool for not seeing that.
Or better, Lemmy will let you choose the default, or remember your choices. Likewise, I typically browse all servers, annoying to have to switch from local to all each time.
Mlem is the Jerboa equivalent for iOS, though i don't have any personal experience with it.
Info found on the official Lemmy site: https://join-lemmy.org/apps/
I've shared similar thoughts and concerns, particularly regarding legal aspects. The one downside of the federated environment is the lack of cash to afford things like legal and cyber protection that larger enterprises can afford. Donations can only do so much I feel.
Probably an idea for the future, but a status page with upcoming maintenance or ongoing issues would help quell some of these kinds of requests. I assume you probably don't have much in the way of redundancy at the moment?
The FediDB site does not list lemmy.worlds hosting location, what country is the site hosted in?
ETA: I'm inclined to think the Netherlands based off of some quick googling, but confirmation would be nice.
The mat on the right looks like ground beef.
