It's wild to me that most multicellular organisms are symbiotic with other kingdoms of life. Like, not only do mammals have gut microbiomes, we also have cerebrospinal fluid microbiomes! And how roots need fungi to break down the soil for them.

It's as if each creature is a mountain of its own, with its own flora and fauna ^-^

Where do you all think the ability to experience comes from? Are there any organisms you think don’t experience - plants, bacteria? What about rocks, galaxies, or computers?

wow, people really underestimate the ground! same with plants too, most of their life goes on below our feet…

that fixed it, thank you so much!

It seems like there are quite a few experienced growers on here. Could you share your insights for any newcomers? (e.g. me)

I share your wariness; the consensus on all the cross-posts seems to be the danger of it. open source drug testing would surely be vital in something like this.

Metaphorical haunches lowered :)

I’m pretty sure it’s not a bioreactor, since it’s used for organic synthesis. I reckon the purification steps would be a lot even so!

For places besides the USA, which don’t have access to large scale synthesis, I’d imagine it’s more useful. Plus, not everyone can rely on their politicians…

these people have created a diy lab reactor you can synthesise medicines with, but I can’t find how to make it anywhere. can anyone find out, or share from their own knowledge?

EDIT: this is a lab reactor for organic chemistry, not a bioreactor with bacteria

That’s really helpful, thank you! Since it’s really sunny at the moment, maybe teaching people how to make a solar cooker would be a good way to start? We’ll save the slashing tires for another day…

I hope your gardening goes well :)

turns out it’s one of the more popular ones! though, I’ve done a quick search and I can’t see where it’s sourced.

While I was looking for an instance I saw one that said it was run on 99% renewables! So unless they’re lying I’d imagine it’s possible.

to anyone who’s set up or been a part of community initiatives to fix the world, how did you get started? how’s it going now?

Does anyone know any resources for other parts of the world? I’d love to proliferate some natives but I’m worried American plants may be invasive.
