While firms’ adoption of AI is still relatively low, rapid progress including with generative AI (e.g. ChatGPT), falling costs and the increasing availability of workers with AI skills suggest that OECD countries may be on the brink of an AI revolution. It is vital to gather new and better data on AI uptake and use in the workplace, including which jobs will change, be created or disappear, and how skills needs are shifting. When considering all automation technologies including AI, 27% of jobs are in occupations at high-risk of automation. Initial findings from a new OECD survey of AI's impact in the manufacturing and finance sectors of seven countries highlight both the opportunities and risks that AI brings.

We really need UBI, de-commodified housing, and medicare for all to stabilize society during the transition to post-singularity.

Not entirely unexpected since we're still in early days of AR/VR., but a little disappointing.

It’s basically just a way for them to document why they fired or laid off someone but obviously they need everyone to fill it out so it doesn’t look like they singled anybody out.

More like “let’s embrace all the users who are already there and try to convert them to our app/server”

So you’re saying the US government went on a wild gooseberry chase?

I’ve noticed that a certain hate filled instance is showing up in my “all” feed and would rather not see losers complaining and hating.

Yeah. It’s probably more accurate to say Lemmy is resistant to corporate takeover, not free from all corporate influence.

Anything that can be salvaged should be copied onto the fediverse but good work!

racism/sexism/any sort of hatred really, including hate based on culture (assuming no one is being harmed—but criticism should be rooted in compassion and justice for victims not hatred of perpetrators) or nationality. Many redditors just want an “approved” target for their hatred and aren’t trying to actually advocate for any victims. Oftentimes, they don’t even have any personal stake in the matter which raises the question of why they’re so invested in hating their target, like bringing it up on unrelated threads.

“Happy cake day”

Treating social media apps/sites as if they’re religions

Reddit is a read-only site for me now, and only when I'm searching for something specific. All my "forum browsing" time goes to Lemmy now. Can't wait until I can unfollow the last few Twitter-only accounts (public transit alert accounts) so I can complete my migration to Mastodon.
