What? You think this is some kind of secret?

No, I think that we should be critical of what we read online. Especially on topics where information is being actively manipulated. Thanks for the link.

I keep seeing this Israel funded Hamas rhetoric. But, I can find almost no information about it from reputable sources. The only information I can find that is not obviously biased is a freaking Quora post.

If you, or anyone else, has anything more solid then I would be very interested to read about it.

There’s some negativity about the price due to it being much higher than usual for a mobile platform. But I hope that it does well. Despite having good hardware games on iOS, iPad OS and TV OS are really lacking in quality. If this game shows there is a viable market for AAA games then that could change.

In this scenario I think the largest mammals will go first? Like if you consider there was a higher concentration of oxygen during the dinosaur era and some dinosaurs were really big. So it seems larger mammals might need a higher concentration of oxygen.

Making it even less economical to replace the battery doesn’t sound very green. Although I guess you can sleep soundly knowing the electricity the Apple Watch used in its short two years of life has been carbon offset. And, in fairness to apple, I’m pretty sure battery replacement involves tossing, I mean recycling, the main unit and giving you a new one.

This is not true. See rule 123 of the Highway Code which says it is illegal to modify your vehicle to make more noise and that the noise of a vehicle should be below 86 db.

The current issue is that enforcement is not proactive and the fines are very low. Most police departments only issue a warning for first time offenders.

See: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/805940/roadside-vehicle-noise-measurement-phase-1-study-report-and-technology-recommendations.pdf

For an extensive review.

Incompetent, you don’t even need an undergraduate degree to be a detective in Detroit:

Must be at least 18 years of age Must be a United States citizen Must have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision Must have normal color and depth perception vision Must hold a valid driver’s license Must have a good driving record Must have a high school diploma or GED Must have no felony convictions

This technology is going to be a nightmare when combined with decades of deliberately selecting for low iq in the police hiring process.

It seems obvious to check that the women in surveillance footage is also pregnant. But, if you have poor critical reasoning skills and you’re only looking for confirmation I can totally see how pregnancy could be missed.

Incompetence.

I would say the battery life on Apple Watch vs Garmin is totally different. The difference between charging every 5+ days vs every day is a huge qol difference. In my experience even if I turn off most of the Apple Watch features I still don’t get even close to 48 hours and that’s after losing most of what made the Watch feel smart. What it boils down to is if you want a smart watch or a fitness watch. If you want a smart watch then the Apple Watch is the obvious choice, but if you’re more interested in fitness tracking and stats then I think Garmin is probably the better choice.

Thanks for the great work! According to Christian the revenue received by reddit per user per year was $1.50 (optimistically). I just set up a donation on liberapay of $15 per year with the idea that if 10% of Lemmy users donate $15 per year then Lemmy will receive the same income per user as Reddit.

Sometimes when making accounts online the suggested password prompt doesn’t show up. Until now I had been using an online random password generator to make the password when the prompt is not available. I just found out that if I go to the passwords screen in settings an manually add an account the password field is pre-filled with a random password which is very convenient.

Wow lemmy.ml feels a lot faster now. Compared to lemm.ee on 0.17.4 the difference is huge and lemm.ee was already very snappy. Excellent work!

The decline of Reddit is a great shame. But the model of social media companies needing to IPO and make profit always hurts users in the long run. When Reddit do IPO more decisions will be made that make the experience worse for users simply because the interests of the platform owners will no longer be aligned with the interests of the users. We can’t know how things will work out but at least the fediverse model is new and is theoretically more sustainable.

You’re right lemmy could take off provided people engage. The transition is primed for thanks to Twitter educating us about the fediverse.
