As an aging dev, we kind of do deserve some of this flak lol. Funny thing is, I went into SD because my first STEM degree made me as unemployable as a humanities major (a B.S. in physics is good for not much).

How did Jeff Bezos answer this charge? “Amazon is not happening to book selling,” he said, “the future is happening to book selling.” I see a lot of similarities between that political language and the AI discourse.
This is the reason I like Matt's blog, since I think one of the big things about AI isn't just the technology (though I have tons of complaints there), it's also about the politics around this tech. We just have a bunch of monopolists running around saying "you're not ready for the future" as a way to just enforce existing power structures.

What rail? We have Amtrak but it's laughable even compared to the poorest European countries. It's cars or nothing baby.
Yeah and the only way I've been able to make it work is with the steam deck since it allows me to hang out in the TV room with everyone. Sequestering myself away in a dedicated room is over I'm afraid lol.
