The opposite of dystopian, this seems like a great thing. And this isn't even raising tax rates; just enforcing the laws we already have.

One common complaint I've seen with Reddit is the negativity. I'm really hoping that the freshness of Lemmy allows the opportunity for a more positive environment.

Maybe the slight difficulty of joining a Lemmy instance will keep more negative folks away, too.

The massive size of vehicles in the U.S. is ridiculous. I think a lot of people would buy smaller, cheaper cars if they were on the market.

Teachers. It is such a widely known trope that teachers are overworked and underpaid. So many that want to pursue teaching now enter the market, understanding that they will likely need a second job at some point. Although internet kudos do little to actually address the problem, my respect goes to the teachers.

During all the COVID quarantining, I had a 3 hr zoom class once a week that was unbearable. The professor required that we have our cameras on and engage in the conversation.

After seeing a Tik Took that gave me the inspiration, I recorded a 20 minute video of me sitting in the library with my mask on, shifting slightly so it looked realistic but otherwise staying still so the loop wouldn't be noticable.

I then set this as my Zoom background and covered my webcam so it wouldn't pick me up. This allowed me to relax and play video games, but respond to questions with no one being the wiser.

You would think that past events would teach these people that they are on the wrong side of history. Its an open note test, and they're still failing.

Anna's Archive is a good option if you're wanting to sail the high seas. Very easy to navigate, and almost all titles are available in multiple formats (I.e. PDF, epub)
