Yeah, I know, but it's possible it could drive more users to the fediverse- for example, if they federate, then try to monetize their platform in such a way that users drift away to other instances to avoid ads or what-have-you.

This feels like a desperate move. Honestly, with all the changes that they've made to Twitter, it's a little surprising that they've kept as many users as they have.
I'm not really concerned that any particular instance is really going to impact my usage of the fediverse, but thanks for the info. It's good to be aware that a particular instance may be biased.
To be fair, I used to work at a fast food place, and we sometimes had to chop extra legs apart. As in, the chicken had an extra leg on its leg.
