In my 20's I had three dreams. The first I was at my parents house preparing for a zombie invasion. I knew we would be fine if I found "it" (no idea what it was) but was unable to in the dream. The second dream I was at the office trying to find "it" again and knew I only had three chances. The third dream I was in the desert at the mouth of a skull shaped cave. I had a shovel and knew it was my last chance to find "it". I failed and awoke knowing I had lost something important but undefinable. The dreams were all about a month apart and so vivid they felt real.

Another interesting note on my dreams is almost all of the really intensely real dreams I've been able to recall take place in different parts of the same "world". Sometimes in the dream I can recall other dreams and where they are in relation to the current dream, most often I make the connection after waking.

If it helps, humans are really really really really really bad at predicting the future. We don't know what's going to happen until it does and even then knowing how that changes what comes after is still unknowable.

For example many of the promises Agent Orange made on the campaign trail would have disastrous consequences for everyone, which might be enough to shift the balance back by the midterms.

So, no there isn't any evidence (at least that I've seen) for trans people being predatory in bathrooms. I have seen lots of stories about trans and "trans-looking" cis women being assaulted, threatened, and harassed in bathrooms. In all fairness though trans people are about 1% of the US population (~3.3m individuals) so statistically it's happened at least once, probably.

This has nothing to do with protecting kids but I wanted to add a few more bible verses that Christians also should contemplate more often.

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

1 John 3:17, a small caveat to this one: brother may refer to other Christians (which is how some versions translate it) but Jesus used brother and sister to refer to all people, and since John was his bestie, it seems like the more fitting interpretation.

Well we'll just have to start celebrating trans kids coming of age like a sweet 16 or quinceanera except unbelievably gay. Sucks for the kids hard to not have access to puberty blockers and hrt (for older teens).

Unless the Democrats grow a spine and put up a fight (I'm looking at you Miss represent-all-Delawareans-except-the-trans-ones) the only thing we're going to be able to do is try to frame it as a rite of passage for trans kiddos.

That's the opposite of what people who have a problem with oligarchs buying the government should do. If you don't have enough capital for real estate investment, you are better off taking your money out of the markets and putting it in something low yield, long term, and stable. Bonds, CD's if you find a good credit union, and those sorts of things.

If you are not already wealthy, basically you're fucked. You can mitigate that by making some (rather large) changes in your life:

  • Move every dollar you can from for-profit banks to member owned coops or credit unions
  • Purchase as much as you possibly can used or second hand (there is a secondary market for all durable goods)
  • Move any managed investments to a fiduciary (a type of financial advisor that is legally required to act in your best interest, other advisors are not required to)

Legally I cannot advise anyone to take any actions that would risk destabilizing the US or its economy and you absolutely should avoid engaging in these activities:

  • vandalism and destruction of property that disrupts a regional, national, or international business
  • Using collective action to force a bank run
  • Refusing to comply with the laws of the United States until such a time that citizens again have representation in government
  • Malicious compliance when interacting with the government or at work

The stock used for book covers is actually just paper believe it or not. It has a plastic-y glossiness because of the ink. The process is really cool, but I used to be a graphic designer and love print shops so I fully admit I am biased.

I love all the day players that are the villain/vicitms of the week. It's kind of hilarious to see the same actors again and again, but also a lot of them were also on Babylon 5.

The characters are mid and despite there being six seasons there are only four episodes:

  • Odo solves a problem by changing shape
  • Propaganda for the Bayjor religion
  • A beloved crossover character saves the day
  • Something unimaginably horrific happens to the O'Briens

The decentralized nature of federated social media is the only advantage it has. But it's kind of a wash. The big social media platforms have resources and weight they can throw at resisting state level surveillance. The operator of the Mastodon instance you sign up for probably doesn't have a lawyer on retainer let alone the army of legal experts Facebook or X could throw at the problem. That said you can always change instances or use multiple ones to begin with.

The theoretical benefits of Gentoo or Arch are completely negated by the fussy nature of those systems. You have more control, but to get it you have to do a lot more work. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just that's the main difference between arch, gentoo, and a more streamlined distro.

Really it depends on what you want out of your distro. If total control is what you're after, then gentoo is only the beginning of a deep k hole that ends in LFS and a ricing habit. Personally I like using my computer as a tool to do other stuff so anything more hands on than debian stable just gets on my nerves or turns me into a ricing addict. But I had to install gentoo to figure that out.

Gentoo is a filter. You either love it and continue diving or learn you want something else from your OS.
