I am not a fan of millions of Russian citizens being in a walled garden of censorship however

An actual ecosystem would keep the tick population down though, but also if you don't have deer regularly roaming through your front yard you should be fine too

“Twitter has two important advantages over other social media platforms,” Haqqani said in an English post on Twitter. “The first privilege is the freedom of speech.

I know it's the Taliban but I cannot believe how braindead they are. They don't even remember that they're so anti free speech, they'll hunt down and kill dissidents especially women who have the guts to get an education.

What I'd like to know is why they're developing Lemmy if they're like, actively Chinese agents. No Chinese citizen would even be allowed to use Lemmy so it's baffling, and the Chinese government would not want a social media site that's uncontrollable by the state.

If they aren't Chinese agents I'm completely flummoxed as to how this community formed that's so incredibly pro china?

The leftists I know are under no impression that the Chinese government isn't under a brutal authoritarian rule, i think this is a petty novel strain. Why does being a Marxist-leninisy necessitate defending and denying state atrocities?

Their denial of the Uyghur genocide and that it's a multi-nation spanning conspiracy to smear china is closer to the correct one?

I barely stated my positions, what do you think my position is besides that China is an authoritarian state?

You guys hit fast. It's funny how the CCP argument against any kind of criticism is always to point out Western flaws like we don't already do that enough! Grow a brain moron. That's called whataboutism, did your state provided handbook provide any other strategies?

Damn, that's a terrifying vision of the future. I was on the fence with defederating, but we probably should.

Your comment should be top.

I think those users who live under oppressive governments should be used to using tools like Tor and accounts with a proton email to interact on the internet.

Aside from the usability learning curve he talks about, the other very pointed criticism is scalability problems that instance owners face. From what I understand, Lemmy and Mastodon are both similar in that they use the ActivityPub protocol. Could Lemmy get too big to scale and still be decentralized?
