They conned the rubes of 1776 to fight the British monarchy so they could have a monopoly on graft in the colonies, the U.S. finally got pulled kicking and screaming into WW1 and WW2 because they hated the competition from Germany et al, and not out of any love for Europe. The support for Hitler among the U.S. ruling class was high and well documented, including Prescott Bush.

The US electoral system is broken and has always been broken.

Oligarchy was built into the US electoral system, it is not broken but operating as designed. Only rich white males had any rights in the beginning, and every change since then was window dressing that could easily be taken away, as we are seeing now. The masks have dropped, the world is seeing the true USA. Genocidal, imperialistic, slave owning, bigoted and patriarchal. Nothing new to anyone with eyes and a brain.

The oligarch owned media/government/education system wants the working class fighting each other rather than going after the real parasites (the oligarchs). They use 24/7 cradle to grave propaganda to convince people that the threat comes from "others" instead of the bosses. Easier to get people to punch down.
