Fun fact - the actress under that makeup also went on to play the Female Changeling.

They're actually a republic. The Vedek Assembly has a lot of influence, but they're fully separate from the Provisional Government. And they only have that much influence because the vast majority of the population follows the Bajoran faith. Think of the Assembly like the Vatican - powerful when everyone cares (Pope during the Middle Ages), but virtually powerless when nobody does (Pope now).

The Prime Directive shouldn't have even applied with that. They can't stop a foreign government from executing their own citizens for stupid things, but trying to execute another nation's citizens is an international incident and falls under standard international politics. The Federation seems to give Starfleet ship captains ambassadorial powers, so Picard should have started threatening sanctions and making comments about how executing Wes could be considered an act of war.

They couldn't get Chao or Meaney quite as frequently as everyone else because of their film careers. I know with Meaney they really wanted to show off his acting skills when they had him and determined that he portrayed suffering really well, so O'Brien suffered a lot. I think Keiko's problem was that she was only in a couple episodes per season and the focus was typically on whatever horror was happening to Miles that week. She's not so much a bad wife as a barely present side character.

Unfortunately, the writers often forget this. VOY waffles a lot on whether or not Tuvok is literally emotionless.

Common misconception. There were several different emblems for different parts of the fleet, but each ship did not have a unique emblem. Someone from the costume department assumed that each ship had a unique emblem and one episode had it wrong, but we also have the memo telling them to not do that again.

I think the police state was their solution to infighting in much the same way that Surak's faction took up a quasi-religious adherence to logic.

Vader only starts sensing Luke after he gets some training and goes from being merely Force sensitive to a proper Force adept. Trained adepts are consistently shown in the franchise to be easier to sense than untrained sensitives, like Leia.

Vader only knows Luke is his son after being told his name. He only finds out Luke has a sister after ripping the knowledge from his mind, and it's unclear if he got her name.

"I don't have a big enough helmet to approve production of moopsy plushes."

Interestingly, this is actually a thing on the show. In one TNG episode they figure out how to open a small window in their own shields to beam through. It becomes standard procedure in TNG, DS9, and VOY after that. Presumably, you can exploit an enemy ship attempting that.

As much as I enjoy seeing the asshole Vulcans be taken down a peg, I really want to see more of her husband. He was laid back and expressive, so I thought there was going to be a twist with him. I hope he comes back later. He may be one of those Vulcans that gets the whole, "logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end," thing.

It's about interference with non-Federation governments and cultures in general. The Prime Directive forbids mucking about with Romulan politics, for instance. Worf gets away with a lot of things that would violate the Prime Directive in regards to the Klingon Government because he has dual citizenship and is a member of Klingon nobility.

The ban on contact with pre-warp civilizations is also more specifically uncontacted pre-warp civilizations (you can chat with them if they're already buying Romulan ale from the Ferengi because the damage has already been done) and more generally pre-interstellar civilizations (warp drive is the usual way a civilization becomes interstellar, but there are alternative methods).
