Last time they tried that, they couped the prime minister and replaced him with Gillard who immediately reversed the taxes.

What he said to France, Canada, and the UK is far more boiler-plate and less emotive than what he's said about Albanese.

I meant invade like if they invaded California and overthrew Gavin Newsom (this is not an endorsement of Newsom).

In our case, they'd enter parliament, arrest Albanese, and put Ralph Babet in charge. Probably after the Murdoch runs a whatsitcalled campaign to give plausible deniability to the Americans for doing this. Then again, the CIA has couped our leaders before (although I don't imagine the Americans will be satisfied with Sussan Ley or another ALP member in charge so they'd probably need to do a full military intervention).

Actions-wise, the LNP are not that far from the Democrats on social issues. They called the same-sex marriage referendum, passed gun control laws, supported a voice to parliament (until Dutton), mostly ignored trans people. The issues they're right-leaning on are Israel (like the Democrats) and immigration (like the Democrats).

Climate change, is the one social (and economic issue) they're to the right of Democrats on that I know of.

And of course, if you take the National party on it's own then it's definitely to the right of the Democrats.

Given the experience with Gough Whitlam, the consequences would (presumably) be a near-immediate LNP government that would backtrack on any conviction we demonstrate and further make things worse not just for Palestine but for Australians.

Alternatively the consequences could be being cut out of military supply chains in the future but like ... pretty sure America wants to do that anyway so I don't know if the government would hold out on war-crime sanctions based on that.

I just want existing accounts grandfathered in. These kinds of bans are more effective at reducing uptake than getting people off the platforms, and more importantly I don't want to do more paperwork.

I can't find my source for the fact that existing accounts won't be grandfathered in.

We collectively need to stop using "AI" to refer to "generative AI". Specialized AI, or rather machine learning, can be extremely useful.

Make it non-compulsory for over-65's.

Although that would 100% give license to the LNP to make it non-compulsory for everyone, and our compulsory voting system is what makes us immune to populist demagogues (that and our country not crumbling before our very eyes).

These kids will need to be driven to the voting booth by their parents, and if the parents know and disapprove of the child's political views then that'll give the more controlling parents effectively more than one vote.

Maybe don't run laps around Australia in warships then.

When we publicly criticize China for their human rights record, their tendency is to double-down. They consider it "domestic interference" and so will break further human rights laws just to prove they take orders from nobody.

Just use Qwant. They won't even LET you log in.

EDIT: I think Qwant may have some ties to the far-right. So maybe not Qwant. But I'm not gonna bother checking.
