I would support having a few BST community set up, if we convinced a few of the other adjacent hobbies and groups to set up a communtiy with a bot pulling from reddit it would essentially create a back up community for everyone. Some big ones would be r/knife_swap and r/edcexchange

I hope they warm up to lemmy, I tried to explain they would beasically be running their own website just with the perk of being linked to other communities. And I hope they do change their minds because fragmenting the community isn't really good for anyone.

Yeah I messaged back and forth with him a little and he really wants something unaffiliated with everything so that they don't have any ToS to agree to or have changed on them. Maybe when they get settled somewhere we can have a post linking a few other parts of the general community outside of lemmy
