Mrs. Spicy wanted to have a campfire while we were camping this weekend, so I enlisted the help of several diffusers to light our site while I prepped our wood. Diffusers shown are the SP36 (coming soon), D18, Q8+, and IF22a (also coming soon).

Things on Lemmy are going great! I am enjoying seeing the posts and the expertise that folks are bringing to this site. To celebrate, I'm going to give away some AA/14500 battery holders and some TS10 diffusers!

As always, you can get these items from me or download them to 3D print them yourself!

What you can win:

  • (2) AA/14500 snap battery holders
  • (3) TS10 diffusers (Clear, Glow in the dark, Orange)

How to enter: Comment your most disruptive flashlight idea.

Here's my disruptive idea: Flashlight controlled by capacitive touch OLED screen. Swipe up for brighter and down for dimmer. Haptic feedback tells you cues (low batt, light turboed, stepdown, etc).

  • Must be in USA
  • Giveaway is open from now until next Saturday, July 15th, 2023
  • 1 winner will be selected at random
  • Winner must have some kind of post history in /c/flashlight

I believe the DT8 and DT8K share the same head/bezel size, so yes it should work!

Rectangular hat is good hat

I shoved it up into the frame so I could see the filter. The diffuser actually works better when it's upside down in this case!

Wow that warmth of the 2700K 519a! This is a great looking light you've made!

HS10 is a great light!

Do magnetic stripes on credit cards still get accepted? I'm only able to use the chip or NFC these days.

I'm in Minnesota at my wife's lake house, which is quite a change from our New Mexican desert home.

Couple of great lightsabers you've got there! What lights and emitters do you have there?

I'm hoping to see more folks come to Lemmy as well! You've got a home here with us!

Also nice Beta QRV2. Such a snazzy looking AAA light.

Bringing these 3 lights (Sofirn SC21, Fireflylite P01, and Convoy S21E) out on a lake trip for Fourth of July weekend.

I'm hoping to do some night time lake beamshots while kayaking around!

Spent some time over the weekend designing this new headband mount! Give it a print and let me know what you think!

Please let me know what other headlamps/lights you would like to have HB3-able!

Or buy one from me

More photos: Why are they all rotated???

Thanks! I have wanted to make this for a while since the DT8 is such a powerhouse for its size.

Download the 3D model from Printables! and print it yourself! Post a pic if you do!

Or you can get one from my website!

DT8 has a weird head shape, so it was challenging to make an end-attachment for the light. I chose to use white filament instead of clear because there were weird refraction effects due to the shape of the diffuser and the printed layers. I am quite happy with the white filament, so I may propagate that color into the rest of my diffusers!

Looks spooky in those trees! You should keep doing unauthorized night hikes 😁

[-] Spicy3d@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Great photos! That's an awesome UV light!

[-] Spicy3d@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I was legitimately thinking of printing GITD/clear protective covers to prevent future impacts!

[-] Spicy3d@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I just signed up too! I'm so glad we have another place to gather!
