"An investigator from the San Francisco Public Defender's Office lawfully served a subpoena on Mr. Altman because he is a potential witness in a pending criminal case," spokesperson Valerie Ibarra said in a statement to SFGATE.

In a post on X, the group wrote that one of their public defenders had managed to serve Sam Altman with a subpoena, requiring him to testify at their upcoming trial. They explained that the case involves their previous non-violent demonstrations, including blocking the entrance and the road in front of OpenAI's offices on multiple occasions.

"All of our non-violent actions against OpenAI were an attempt to slow OpenAI down in their attempted murder of everyone and every living thing on earth."

So it's not because he's being prosecuted.

Now, Talukdar thinks we’re only one year away from experiencing a holodeck ourselves.

Very skeptical indeed.

Give it a year or so and they'll both pretend that this never happened.

Kind of like saying that humans are car-driving machines because we drive cars.

One thing he failed to mention here is that all software fails eventually. So imagine one of those fancy graphics scenes he commissioned being a 100+ car pileup because a software glitch caused a car to make a sudden right-hand turn to a street that doesn't exist.

Create the problem and sell the solution.

Newsom also signed AB 1008, which clarifies that any personal data fed to an AI model retains the same privacy rights it would otherwise — including the consumer’s right to correct and delete their personal information. That’ll be a fun one to implement.

I think what it actually clarified is that personal information generated from an AI model are now covered under the law, instead of just what is used as training data.

Building 5-7 5GW facilities full of GPUs is going to be an extremely large amount of silicon. Not to mention the 25-35 nuclear power plants they apparently want to build to power them.
So on the list of things not happening...

Are you saying that Clippy is proof I'm right or proof I'm wrong? Or I'm I just being unfunny and not getting the joke.

I'm sure they will thank us once we explain that the alternative was GPT-5.
