Devil’s advocate: “If you copy it, the [original] owner doesn’t lose anything…”

They loose the right to distribute it or not distribute it to who they choose. As the owner, it’s technically their right to deny access to the work, and you are taking that right away from them.

I’m not a shill, and I am never going to be a customer of big media. If I can’t get it without charge, I’d rather go without. But, I am taking that right away from the owner. I sleep ok.

The confidence with which you make this factually incorrect statement is mind bending.

He ran an effective campaign of comparing brown people like Mandela Barnes to danger and fear. On the other side, the Wisconsin democrats underestimated Barnes’ polling and put almost zero effort into a campaign they assumed they wouldn’t win based on those incorrect polling numbers.

Ron Johnson exploited racist fears. The democrats assumed Mandela would lose and ran their shitty campaign as a self fulfilling prophecy.

FRJ!!!

Why would she recuse herself?!?!? This is EXACTLY why the majority of Wisconsinites voted for the progressive judge. I know I make this comment often here, but fuck Robin Vos.

That was my first computer! I spent hundreds of hours with that BASIC cartridge. Now I’m getting all nostalgic.

Agree. Upvoted for accurate and reasonable criticism of my statement. It doesn’t mean he was a nazi, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he was an amazing musician and performer, and from all accounts I have read, was active in engaging minorities in rock music. It’s just unusual for people who aren’t anthropologists or historians working with a preservation society to have a personal collection of artifacts from such a vile group. I worry that people who don’t know all the good Lemmy did will conclude that he was celebrating the nazis, and unfortunately there is not a lot of objective data left to confirm that he wasn’t glorifying them, and I think that sucks.

Still… the guy had an entire room in his place dedicated to Nazi memorabilia 😬.

Where the fuck was all this honesty when it mattered?

[-] SDK@midwest.social 11 points 1 year ago

Wow! Another legal justification for cops to harass black folks. Great. 🤦‍♂️

Holy shit. It is way too easy, living in Wisconsin, to normalize alcohol use disorder. Damn. So many people in my life meet the definition of “heavy social drinker”. I’m not far off. I really need to dry out.
