The days of airbnbs being cheaper than hotels are long gone. When planning a trip to NOLA I looked into Airbnbs and they were all outrageously expensive, and insane cleaning fees, and had inane pet deposits. Ended up booking Marriott room with a kitchenette, no pet deposit, and parking for $100 less per night on top of none of the weird fees Airbnb hosts have, two blocks from bourbon street. I’ll never use Airbnb or similar services again.
I was using Jerboa but I've been having problems with it over the last few days and was getting annoyed. I saw this morning that there was another app, Connect for Lemmy. I've deleted Jerboa now because the connect ui is much nicer and hasn't been crashing so far.
Oh man, if you like that, try fish sticks topped with macaroni and cheese and apple sauce. It's heaven. The flavours all go so well together. I normally have to eat my foods one dish at a time, but this is one of the weird mixtures that doesn't make me want to freak out.
Raw potatoes are like semi toxic. Do you not get any GI upset from doing that?
I've been saying for a couple of years now that I think within the next decade there's going to be a resurgence in "dumb phones." And other methods of disconnecting from the web as people start to get fatigued from being connected to everything constantly.
Dude it seriously fucks me up that the Voat thing was almost 10 years ago. It feels like it was just a couple of years ago.
Honestly, I'm starting to think the Nazis may have won, and they just shifted their strategies to playing the longcon.
Honestly, we are potentially on the cusp of the next great societal shift not only in how countries are ran, but probably also where the sphere of global influence resides. I don't know how it will all end it, whether it will end with China superseding the US as a global influencer and power, or if we will go the way the Nazis have been trying to direct us since the 30s and the entire world takes a dramatic shift to the far right.
Quite frankly, it's terrifying. Being in the United States and watching our political climate dissolve into a party who is afraid of embracing the young and go further left, and a party whose only interest is owning the libs and helping the 1% become even wealthier while the rest of us have to suffer through greedflation is really frustrating. My wife and I have talked about leaving, but we have JDs, and American JDs are basically useless outside of the U.S. unless you went to Harvard/Stanford/Yale and can land a job in Big Law, which we did not.
I've thought about going back to school and getting a degree in programming, or trying to find another way to learn and get the experience/certifications I would need, but I have absolutely no idea where to start with that or how to look for those kinds of jobs.
The mods of the Apple subreddit framed it as if they were making some great sacrifice by choosing to reopen the subreddit and remain in control. Obviously, the mods that are claiming this are full of shit, it's more about the authority than it is giving a shit about a subreddit.
Was there even a release date announced?
The most aggressive free speech advocates I know are also some of the most horrible human beings I've ever met. They believe horrible shit. They want free speech because they know what they say is horrible, and want to be able to continue to say it with no real consequences other than being socially ostracized.
This is what I’ve been doing but it seems like for every five I block 10 more show up later. It’s annoying.
