I moved from the US to Portugal and have been taking classes. I can read Portuguese at a basic level and with enough effort write it. However, I cannot understand it when spoken by a Portuguese native speaker. There are a lot of words smushed together that just don't register in my brain. Oddly, I can understand it when a non native speaker speaks it (I guess, Portuguese with an accent?). I work with people from all around Europe and I can understand, for instance, a Romanian guy speaking Portuguese just fine (though I don't know any Romanian).

It's not a hearing problem, it's just that it sounds so different that my brain isn't really picking out the separation in words and so I can't understand it.

Uncomfortable news is not like wine. It doesn't get better with age. Tell them sooner rather than later. If nothing else, it'll give you more time to work on whatever needs to be worked on afterwards.

The whiteboard is the most remarkable invention though.

The article doesn't go into enough detail, but a lot of the USAF personnel systems already run on Salesforce platforms (MYFSS), and has been for several years now. Palantir also deployed a data connector between a lot of USAF systems including personnel data last year.

I don't know all of the details and it certainly looks sketchy, but if the cancelled project started 12 years ago and still isn't delivered, they may simply be deciding to stop throwing good money after bad and integrate more things onto the platforms they already have and already use.

I don't ride a scooter, but I do ride a motorcycle. As you budget don't forget about safety gear. A decent helmet can be expensive. A lot of people ride scooters in normal clothes, but certified riding gear is much safer. Everything adds up though - I probably spent $2000 on jeans, boots, helmet, jacket, gloves, Bluetooth kit for the helmet, phone mount for navigation, ear plugs, visors, etc.

Once you get to where ever you are going, if you do wear your gear, it's definitely not as comfy as normal clothes. Weather can be rough too. Riding in rain is not fun, and cool weather is surprisingly cold when you're moving 60km/h through it. And drivers of cars can be really, really clueless.

Good luck! As much as I love riding my motorcycle, it was more expensive than I would have guessed, and less convenient than I thought it would be.

Why doesn't Mr. Laurie Reeves have an email address listed? Seems ironic.
