Despite the conjecture here, he still sounds awful. Especially if you're rich and successful and you don't even help friends who helped you.

Like if I was broke and working hard on some story and my friends helped me in some capacity, and it was always known it wouldn't be for financial compensation but then it goes off and becomes a success I would definitely help them back. Maybe not like give them a credit on the book but a thank you shout out and maybe something off the record or something... Not ruin my relationships and be an ass

I'm so happy to see a few alternatives popping up already and I hope to see them fleshed out well.

As someone who's pretty new to things like FOSS, self hosting, etc. I am hopeful that there will be a release that's more "idiot proof".

I have a few friends who aren't going to spend time trying to learn all the small things needed to set up stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to set up something and just invite them and they just have to make an account in an app type thing to use. Lol

I grew up on n64 and I don't recall having any issue with jumping to dual joy sticks. Like it was so natural... I probably had a week of adjustment that I just don't remember.

I'm OOTL on this, did Gaiman do something?

For the first time in my life I have considered a gun. I agree with your comment, it's typically something I don't need or want. I don't want my neighbours to want them or need them.

But here we are and it's terrible.

That's why it's on sale

Canadian here.

It's most definitely a combination of excellent bright sunshine with the right amount of windchill to create just enough sagging for it to droop like this yet freeze in this shape. We see them called windrows but I have to say in all my years this is absolutely magnificent and I've never seen one quite like it.

Loved these as a kid. They're the same in Canada

It's tough because many situations are different and reasons why someone is homeless. In this comic the guy says he got sick, so it's clear this situation a free housing solution would probably help.

In many situations there is a combined addiction and mental health issue that creates the problem. From my own experience with family, we had someone who needed help but refused it and it resulted in having them removed from the home.

People can become homeless like that and continue to refuse help and they go from friend to friend without making a change until they're friendless and homeless. The biggest issue is they don't want to accept the actual help they need but would rather just a hand out of money.

Thank you for this. This is exactly what I've done and I run into a connection error notice. Turned off wifi and tried again, still not working.

Just joined. I was suggested to use an app called Voyager for this. Having some trouble getting that to work. Does any have a step by step? I've already registered and been approved for piefed.ca. So when I went to login, it gives me an network error.

Edit: looking into it more, do we have to make a lemmy.ca server account as well?

Edit 2: after waiting for a while and trying a few more times before waiting longer I am happy to update that I am now logged into the Voyager app on my account using the easy steps provided and I think it was simply just a server load issue that needed time to just resolve itself. I'm happy to be here and can't wait to see what's going on!

Thank you all for assisting me!
