I love looking after my sister's dog, a big dumb lurcher, shes easy so far as dogs go, very lazy and not motivated by walks but 2 weeks was enough to verify I don't want to own one. My two feline girls suit me just right.

By chance I went down to visit them today, I had a day off I had forgotten about that I had to use before the end of March. I brought my stuff with me to ask and they were really pleased to see what I had been doing and even took some pictures for their website!

I was right in what the leather was, it is indeed Badalassi Pueblo, its really nice, I got to see some much bigger cuts of it and I'm keen to make some more from that at some point.

Other than miles most of our stuff is metric anyway, at least legally. Like yeah, we use stones and feet for 'human' measurements in speech etc but if you go to the doctors it would be in kilos and metres. There are a few oddities like milk bottles being in pints and beer in pubs but even then you find things like plant milks and bottles/canned beer in litres. The one that really makes no sense is car fuel efficiency. We sell fuel by the litre but measure it in miles per (imperial) gallon - so it doesnt even tie up with American figures.

Not sure, I've yet to attempt such a thing. This was rather stretchy and relatively thin leather but I don't think I could have done it with this.

No divider just yet, buying tools bit by bit so that is all just measured by hand and ruler. These are all pieces for practice atm rather than intentionally making something nice. The leather thickness and thread width haven't come into it just yet, I've literally just got a 2kg bag of leather offcuts so its the luck of the draw if something is thick or thin or in the right colour.

The first one is made with 0.8mm anebraid thread provided by the place I did the workshop at (and almost certainly not done with enough tension) and the second red thread is 1mm cheapo ebay waxed thread to tide me over.

Even the stitching chisels were just the 3.8mm ones that came in the little toolkit I got from the workshop (all of them are done with the same chisels). Essentially yeah, nothing is perfect yet but I don't intend it to be, my main focus is on skills rather than finished items.

Thank you for the input though!

I originally tried to use Inkscape to make a simple pattern but I found it frustrating to make anything of accurate size. I then decided to have a go with LibreCAD instead and found it far more intuitive to make things accurately. It can ouput to svg, pdf and png as well as using dxf natively. I plan to get a cheap little cnc router to just send a pattern and get something cut out of wood or acrylic.

I've just found Create which is a British company and has a few different payment gateways so could be a viable option for me.

I don't think that it answers the DRM requirement but BritBox is a British service for British tv programmes and films owned by the BBC and ITV. Internationally it serves the US, Canada, Aus, SA and the continental Nordics.

Caerphilly is featured on the map though

I'm English (distinction from British as there isnt any programme for or impetus to learn celtic languages like the other countries) and for a long time the only other language I spoke was French to a very, very poor and sub-conversational level (from school).

Since 2016 or so (on and off) I've been learning Dutch. When you tell people that, the first question you get (from both english native speakers and the Dutch) is 'why'?

So whilst I work and live in the UK, my company has a bunch of EU offices and I have worked closely with our large Belgian office for almost 10 years now and as of last year I now work for that EU branch of the company and my current project is with a Dutch client which has spurred me on a lot recently to learn again.

I also have two Dutch friends (from other ends of the country) who help and encourage me.

So I'm currently at a basic/low conversational level, I can deal with every day basic interactions.

Sure, Spanish, French or even German makes a lot more sense to most people but I have so many strong links with the Netherlands that Dutch is the only one that makes sense to learn for me and is the one I use the most by miles.

Hi, I'm (provisionally - I haven't really decided yet) Pip from the UK, mid-30s. I had my "egg crack" moment a few years ago right at the start of the pandemic and I've been waiting for an appointment with a UK gender service for 4 years until I finally got my first appointment the other week.

I've been in self denial this whole time, tried to ignore things, push it all to the back and it is clear that isn't a healthy approach, it isn't something that will "go away" by itself.

I have a second appointment coming up in a few weeks where I will potentially get an actual diagnosis of dysphoria or incongruence and finally get some help. However the first appointment made it really clear I have an awful long way to go with self acceptance.

I've tried joining a few trans communities but, and this isn't meant to be an insult to anyone - I'm happy they are comfortable in expressing themselves, I find it really hard to relate to all the uwu, catgirl, eepy stuff to the point where it makes me feel uncomfortable. Not in a judgemental way, it is clearly related to my own lack of self-acceptance and my self hatred but at times it makes me feel like it isn't serious, other times it makes me feel like an outsider and makes me question myself even more.

I'm really looking for a group to have a slightly more mature discussion with, as fun as the memes and the "femcel" stuff is I just want to feel and speak in a way I'm more accustomed to.
