Given the rodent theming, lemmings is appropriate. It's also slightly self-deprecating, which is a plus when it comes to community monikers.
At the same time, some people just wanna lurk. Hell, like 85% of people just wanna lurk.
Not everybody wants to moderate a community.
twobestfriendsplay has begun to spin up, so now all I need is my gacha shit and my TTRPG shit.
Yeah, I'm seeing that now. The worry has been updated to "Huge chunks of this federation may die the moment one guy running a big instance turns out to be a sex pest".
I think this it's morally important that we had our first not-a-test post be Evillak.
It's gotta clean up fast, which is a lot to ask of any service, never mind a curiousity project.
Well, third time's the charm, hopefully. This is the third time, right?
Being the second-best at everything means we have a very varied userbase, and that's a death sentence on Lemmy, where you need 900 separate accounts for each instance. Seriously, the user experience here is so awful it'd be almost unbelievable, if this place wasn't flush with Linux nerds, who spontaneously burst into flame at the idea of usable UX.
Also, the Reddit sub has like 100k subs. This entire website has like 5k max.
Asking everyone who's interested in a subject to be the one to moderate a damn community is a bit much. Even people who want that kind of responsibility will have to deal with deciding on the instance, since you evidently need like 19 accounts for every instance that might have the shit you want.
The more I try to understand this site, the more is seems like an absolute nightmare.
After 10,000 years, Lemmy approved my signup. Interface is a little fucky, but we can see where this goes. Not as shit as I expected.
That's... why I'm here.
