This was the only reason I liked Android over iOS: the CFW community. I’ve been running some sort of CFW since Android 4.0. Now, the charm has gone. GrapheneOS, SailfishOS, e/OS, LineageOS, iode OS, and even CyanogenMod – I’ve used them all. Each one has its own target group and use case. I hope it turns into the better one again. It’s like forcing a PC to only run the OS it’s delivered with.

EU DMA (feddit.org)

TL:DR They don’t want to be forced to open features for the concurrency. My problem with the whole situation. The EU gets some nice features that some portion of users benefit from (AltStores , Sideloading) , but in exchange , we use other features that are far more useful. Like here , screen mirroring. There was a rumor that also AirDrop could loose/lack some functionality in the future (in EU). It is getting ridiculous. I know that the argument „if you want an open phone , buy an android, why did you buy iPhone if you don’t want ecosystem“ is not valid as there are situations where you can’t choose (family buying only iPhone, Job only provides iPhone). But I fear that my experience and reason why I bought into the Apple ecosystem will be harmed by this over regulation. I wanted it locked down and secure, I don’t want Google and Microsoft devices to be able to interact with my systems… the whole reason I ditched Windows and Android. Am I alone with that, anyone else who thinks so?

I also asked some creators, but they can’t because of the Google partnership Programm, it prohibits reupload on other platforms

I have an old pentium laptop N3520 with 4GB DDR3. I removed everything and put it in a receiver box 1U size. It consumes so little energy that it can run 5-7 hours from its battery (I call it build in USV). Last time I measured 3-7w. Also passiv cooled , no noise. Another machine I use , is with a i7 4770 with 16GB for Proxmox, 7-20w , peak is much higher but rarely used , only on boot and vm startup.

SailfishOS also supports Sony Xperia 10 devices

[-] LeTak@feddit.org 6 points 6 months ago

SailfishOS can do that. They have a sandbox for android that you should not really notice as a end user.

SailfishOS (on Sony Xperia 10) and UbuntuTouch exist. Also the PinePhone but that is low low end.
