I wanna be specific, I don't mean edgy memes in general, I'm talking about 2016-ultraedgelord level edgy memes. The reason I asked is because I plan on creating a social experiment where I post left-wing edgy memes - especially pro trans ones.

The problem is that edgy memes nowadays seem to be associated with the unfunny 2016-era ones so I need your ideas on why as I believe it's possible to be both edgy and progressive.

One theory I have is that those types of memes are offensive in nature and as such created this massive misconception where slapping the n-word on anything and calling it a meme = edgy meme, it isn't. The real thing that matters is the punchline imo.
