I have an R210ii running opnsense for like 6 years now. It has never given me a single problem and easily my favorite little machine. And the oldest in my rack.

I used this video to set up sliding sync on my personal server.

Exciting news about Matrix 2.0. A bit of a long post but really interesting read.

How long did your initial sync take?

I run it with a whitelist of other instances I do federate with. I have actually been considering opening it up.

I've been self-hosting Matrix for like 2+ years now. The setup yaml was a lot to get thru in terms of reading what each set of options did. That felt like a lot but the reality was only a few things actually needed to be set and/or changed to make it work the way I wanted. Thankfully Matrix documented all the options out.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with Matrix. It has very much been set it and forget it once it was up. I'm excited to see where Matrix 2.0 goes.

This right here. get something cheap, throw opnsense or pfsense on it and start learning. It will probably be incredibly frustrating at first but when it starts to click then it is really fun and rewarding.

I bought an old dell r210ii years ago and threw pfsense on it then swapped to opnsense and could not be happier. It is still in use today, a good 6 years later.

I grabbed a T480s model with 256gb NVME and 24GB RAM. Also includes fingerprint reader, this one seems to be hit/miss so check pictures if its important to you. Paid $200 delivered. Been running PopOS no problem. Its been a great little laptop in the last 2-3 weeks that I have owned it.

i recently picked up one and love it. These thinkpads are also flooding ebay so some with great specs can be had for less than the $238 newegg is asking for. Just gotta look around.

Battlestar Galactica years ago. Dradis for the domain name and ships for the computers.

Galactica.dradis Pegasus.dradis Basestar.dradis And so on. Made it fun.

I would check to see the wattage/amps the heater pulls and what the smart plug is rated for. Don't want to melt it or start a fire by mistake.
