I had the same experience with OSM maps years ago, but you've convinced me to give it another chance. I'm looking forward to seeing if it handles public transport in Vancouver as well as Google Maps does.

I'm not particularly concerned with how "the kbin user base" looks or any silly tribalism like that tbh. I'm just wondering if/why the issue might be happening. If the string doesn't appear in the git repo, that's a useful data point for sure. But plenty of people are confirming that something is going on, so the questions as to 1) what is causing it and 2) why are still out there.

A post on kbinMeta states that "Lemmy.ml is blocking all inbound ActivityPub requests from /kbin instances." More details here, but the theory is that -- rather than defederating -- lemmy.ml returns a 403 'access denied' message in response to any inbound requests from a user agent with "kbinBot" in the string. Upvotes, comments, and boosts don't seem to be going through. However, it appears that lemmy.ml still federates information outbound to kbin instances.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows what is going on and why it might be happening? Federation between Lemmy instances and Kbin instances seems to be a selling point for both, so I'm sure others using both services are curious as to what's going on.

Nope, I can't risk not being fully aware of my surroundings.

Or -- and I hope this sinks in one day -- it could be that using terms like "delusional" and "coward" to describe people you disagree with is a great way to convince people that you're not a jerk worth engaging with. Which is why they block you. Like I am now.

Interesting background to the facts of the deceased person, which leads me to suspect that the story of his death will also be of some interest.

If all you can do with an honest answer to your question is insult the other person for their perspective, then don't be surprised to find yourself blocked on here by a lot of folks pretty quickly.

EDIT: So I peeked into your very brief post history, and sure enough you're already complaining about people being "quick to ban or block" and "debate meeeeee." So while I know you won't accept this criticism, let me assure you that your comment above provides nothing of substance to debate. You're being blocked by people because (1) you're being rude, and (2) no one owes you their attention, much less their content.

Personally, I mostly post from CBC because I find it to be a regularly published source of reliable news. If you like others, post others and see how they're received.

A “motor vehicle incident” that occurred in Surrey Sunday morning is being investigated by the Independent Investigations Office of B.C., the police oversight agency confirmed. [Looks like an RCMP vehicle was involved in a crash, as were two sedans and a minivan.)

I know avocato is all the rage this year but I'll always find ducknana more appealing.

While it might seem unusual to find a marmot in an engine compartment, a wildlife expert says this is actually a pretty common occurrence in many parts of B.C.

Gorsuch is a mixed bag at best on a lot of issues, but he has been as good as anyone could expect on Indigenous issues. Check out his concurrence in this case (starting on PDF page 43), which straightforwardly grapples with the history of forced family separations and residential schools.

For sit-down or coffee, generally 20%, as I've done for years. Not going to go up to 25%, and it'll take bad service for me to dip below 18%.

Slightly different for delivery - I'll usually do a flat $5 if they're nearby and I'm just ordering a meal for me and my partner. If we're getting a lot of food, I'll add to that.

If I order takeout food (not coffee), I don't tip at all.

Lightly raining here in Metro Vancouver as well, but unfortunately the rain isn't supposed to last long here, either.
