This is exactly what Luxembourg did with their public transit recently. They realized they were spending more in upkeep/salaries/HR/computer systems/policy/etc, and just ripped it all out, and made it free.

It's so much simpler, and so much nicer!

That's wild to me! I didn't register all that long ago, but you admins approved me app in minutes. Thanks for all your work, we appreciate it!!

Yeah, agree to this. Nice to be a part of a well tended community with some nice folks. Keep the engagement coming!

Y'all are great! I love the demonstration of commitment to retaining what makes this instance special. I'm happy to be a part of it, and fully support your decision. :)

You know, that's a good point. Facebook may be littered with ads, but at least they are relevant to my lifestyle. My wife has purchased a fair few things she saw from Facebook ads. Reddit ads pretty much are universally uninteresting garbage.

For the last month or two I've been building a set of cabinets/room dividers to hide my TV in (There's a TV lift under there!). Construction has gone well, and I got a lot of the doors built this week (hooray! I was pretty nervous about them). But now I'm starting to butt my head up against learning how to stain wood, which I have very little exposure to... so... that's been challenging. Hopefully I'll figure something out... it's turns out maple is pretty tough to stain.

And saw a bunch of posts about the third party apps closing down, and lots of negativity about that whole fiasco.

... And I realized I hadn't been there for a week... And frankly didn't miss it. I am really loving the beehaw (and Lemmy as a whole) community. Thanks for being open, welcoming, responsive, engaging, and just generally nice people. I'm happy to be here. :)

I have been playing Pathfinder 2e for the last few years. We just finished a Starfinder campaign, and are starting up a Lancer game in it's place. I've wanted to try Lancer for years, so I'm pretty excited for it! :D

That's the big one, to me. It's a huge source of water for damn near all of Crimea. Russia destroying the thing has dramatic implications both to their campaign in Ukraine as well as their perceived ability to withstand the Ukrainian counter offensive in Crimea. This is both terrible and very interesting...

What project are you embroiled in? It's it going well? What hangups are you running into? And, dare I ask, are you having fun with it?

[-] Inspectigator@beehaw.org 4 points 1 year ago

The planes are sticking around, actually. Just character alignment is going away. :)

[-] Inspectigator@beehaw.org 5 points 1 year ago

Really? I'm surprised to hear that take. I've only been excited for the removal of alignment! Why do you think apartment should stay?

There's some really interesting changes coming for 2e! Bards have full martial proficiency, clerics can f finally get heavy armor from within their class, wizard schools of magic are gone... Then of course the big named news, like the replacement of dragons with the magic traditions (arcane/nature/religion/occult), and the completed removal of alignment.

Are other people as excited as I am?

[-] Inspectigator@beehaw.org 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I'm in for that. I used to be only about Pathfinder 1e. But now I've exposed myself to 1e, starfinder, 2e, blades in the dark, Delta green, lancer, traveler, 40k death watch, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Branching out to ask these other systems has made me a more flexible gm, and only served to expand the tools in my toolbox

It's not really the same thing, but I've been excitedly following the news for armored core 6. Been so long since there was a new installment! I played the crap our of the PS1/PS2 releases
