Patch Notes for 6/5/25 (www.playstartrekonline.com)

#PC

#General:

Store & Progression

  • Event Buyout Adjustment: The cost to buy out event progress has been reduced from 40 to 20 progression points, making it easier for players to complete event goals.

Endeavor Perks Fixes

  • Shield Regeneration (Space & Ground): Corrected an error in the perk descriptions that listed a 4% bonus. The actual bonus is 1% per rank, with a cap of 25%.
  • Armor Penetration (Space): Updated the perk description, which incorrectly displayed a 2% bonus. The correct bonus is 0.5% per rank, up to a maximum of 12.5%.

Console Fixes

  • Console – Universal – Kida’s Boon: Fixed a scaling bug affecting Antiproton Damage. This damage now scales correctly with level, resulting in a slightly reduced overall value for balance.

Starship Customization

  • Paladin & Ranger Temporal Battlecruisers:
    • Fixed an issue where using the Randomize button in the ship customization tailor would result in mismatched hull materials.
    • Resolved a visual bug with the Molecular Reconstruction indicator light, which was offset and incorrectly remained white.
    • Note: You’ll need to reapply the Paladin or Ranger template in the ship customization interface for this change to take effect.

Mission Updates – Devil’s Heart

  • Briefing Timer: Reduced the initial wait time before the mission briefing begins.
  • Miniboss Difficulty: Increased the rank of minibosses to provide a more challenging experience.
  • Boss Encounter Balance: Adjusted pacing by reducing the number of Infiltrators, while increasing other enemy types during the final boss fight.
  • N'Vala Fixes: Corrected contact background and costume visuals for N'Vala.

#General:

Starship Fixes & Updates

  • World Razer Temporal Ops Juggernaut [T6]: Resolved an issue that rendered this ship invalid as a playable starship. Captains can now properly access and deploy the World Razer Temporal Ops Juggernaut [T6].
  • Legendary Akira Multi-Mission Command Cruiser: Addressed a bug that prevented cannons from being equipped and used on this starship. Functionality has been fully restored.

Item and Console Updates

  • Console – Universal – Polymorphic Probe Array: Removed an unintended level restriction that was preventing some players from claiming the Epic Promo version of this console. Eligible players may now successfully claim and use it.
  • Console – Universal – Harasser Probes: Updated the tooltip on the Vorgon Xyfius Heavy Escort [T6] to correctly state that this console passively boosts Tetryon Damage, instead of the previously (and incorrectly) listed Polaron Damage.

Store Fixes

  • Phoenix Box Store: Corrected an item binding issue where one reward was incorrectly marked as Bound to Account instead of Bound to Character. Item bindings now reflect their intended status.

Console - Universal - Tracer Payloads Device

This console has 2 main effects triggered upon activation:

  1. Your Direct Energy Weapons will be enhanced for a short duration. Any foe you hit while under this effect will be marked with the Tracer Payloads Trail up to 15 times. Each consecutive hit will refresh the duration

  2. You and your allies within a 10km radius will get a special buff: While actively targeting a foe marked with the Tracer Payloads Trail debuff your critical chance will increase by 1% for each stack of Tracer Payloads Trail applied to the active target. The critical chance increase is not limited to attacks towards the active target.

This console also provides an increase in flying speed when leaving combat for 15 seconds or until combat is re-engaged.

Starship Trait - Persistence Hunters

After achieving level 5 in this vessel's Starship Mastery, you will unlock the "Persistence Hunters" Starship Trait. When humanity was young, one of its main advantages over other animals was the ability to hunt for long amounts of time, eventually draining its prey from stamina.

Using foe targeted Bridge Officer Abilities on a target within 10km will reduce their flight speed and damage resistance. This effect stacks up to 5 times. Upon reaching 5 stacks, this debuff will expire and in its place the target's impulse and shield subsystems will be offline for 5 seconds. The target will also become immune to the effects of this trait for 20 seconds.

It's also possible that "Nova Squadron" is just one of many (as Value Subtracted mentions herein) and that there are many other Nova Squadrons without any issues in the intermittent years between the incidents. It's possible that, like most things in the Star Trek universe, we only see the times when something interesting/dramatic occurs, not the boring day-to-day.

Said another way, just because you periodically have a rowdy graduating class from primary/secondary education, doesn't mean you stop having graduating students.

I would think that any object (including the ship) is traveling at a sub-light speed within the warp bubble and therefore would only keep that same velocity when (catastrophically) exiting the warp bubble. Unless by exiting the warp bubble in an uncontrolled manner creates some other force which slows the object somehow.

My understanding is that the warp bubble is moving space around the object (including the ship) rather than accelerating the object to FTL (faster-than-light) speeds, thus we really only have to consider the relative velocities within the warp bubble.

Edit to add: Oh, also, I should add that (IMO) the object cannot continue to travel at FTL speed since it has no warp drive of its own to maintain the warp field.

I second many of your points. And, also...

"the purple D"

Had me immediately thinking, "Well, STO vanity shields are canon now, I guess."

[-] Indy@startrek.website 10 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

How about we carve a Spock or Picard or Mariner or really anyone else who isn't a genocidal dictator? Hmm? Maybe?

No? Perhaps my dream for Star Trek has too much hope for humanity's future? Not enough grit, tears, and flashy booms?

[-] Indy@startrek.website 5 points 8 months ago

Agreed. I would have loved to have that kind of callback to the story.

Hear, hear!!

I realize I'm not adding much value by saying this, but... I still wanted to support this with a comment and not just an upvote.

This is beautiful! I love data and I'm delighted you were inspired by my post to gather the data.

Thank you for doing this!

To be fair, I think every series has a lot of episodes that would fail this test, some of which were excellent, like DS9’s “In the Pale Moonlight”, and “Far Beyond the Stars” or TNG’s “The Inner Light”, but if used to assess a series, I think this could be a good metric.

Indeed, "In the Pale Moonlight" is one I thought of which fails as well. I still think it makes a good measure to see how many episodes of a show pass/fail overall. Only to see if it's really about the whole crew or mostly one character. (Arguably, early TNG comes really close to being Star Trek: Wesley while mid/late TNG comes close to Star Trek: Data.)

I don't think you need to watch Discovery to enjoy Strange New Worlds. There might be a few things established in the lore/backstory from Discovery, but any "confusion" from those references will quickly dissipate. SNW makes it easy to see it as a distinct show in a new/expanded telling of a known crew/time.

I will add that there will be stylistic choices in the production that will take a little getting used to, but remember that just about every Star Trek show has done this. Enjoy the story!
