I got the email yesterday and went ahead and canceled. All the months of zero content during the writer's strike made it pretty easy to do away with a lot of these streaming services. Gotta vote with that wallet!

Thank you to the admins for all of your hard work maintaining Lemmy.World through the downtime. A lot of us are already so comfortable here that we rush to the Discord server to check in when it's down.

Point being, the members of Lemmy.World are really grateful to the admins, the mods, and fellow Lemmings who have been posting interesting content and participating in deep discussions!

Oh that would be really nice.

I'd used Reddit in some fashion since about 2012. Jumped ship once I realized Lemmy was gaining steam and Spez wasn't going to budge. I'm sad, no doubt, but I think it's because Reddit was easy. Been lurking on Lemmy more lately just from lack of time, but I'm glad to see that things are still rolling along! I think the communities here are full of folks trying to make something amazing. Happy to contribute!

Edit: Punctuation.

Liftoff has been pretty great so far. Looking forward to trying Sync though.

Sad that Ray Stevenson passed away recently. He was an incredible actor. I'm looking forward to seeing his final performance, but it's bittersweet.

Thanks for the transparent update!

Thank you for this, and your continued work on the servers.

Regarding farming, aside from poor farming methods, another sad reality is that a huge number of farmers bought into the cheap fertilizer sludge on the market. The sludge grows well but contains high levels of PFAS (toxic microplastics). Crops have been full of microplastics for decades. The same is true of fields and streams containing local deer and fish populations. If you hunt and eat those animals, you ingest PFAS as well.

In the USA, State and Federal agencies are starting to research the PFAS problem as well as fallout medical effects. Are ingested PFAS a cause for our high rates of cancer or mental health disorders?

As with everything they're starting to ask for funding and nobody's quite sure who's going to pay for it yet.

Thank you for the hard work! Enjoying Lemmy.world quite a bit. :)
