Limitations of gecko. They've covered their reasons before https://grapheneos.org/usage#web-browsing

Edit to add. I think the browser of choice debate differs significantly depending on the OS in use.

I wish vanadium was available independently of Graphene

seems to me that one way federation is the right answer/solution. Let fediverse users retreive threads content, but dont serve up fediverse content to help meta keep threads users locked in.

Came to say the same thing. But then again I shouldnt be surprised, bankers and politicians seem to really struggle with concepts like 'conflict of interest'

Can we get some legislation that forces all her books to be stamped on the cover with the words: "This book is brought to you by Epstein money and the suffering of women and children trafficked for abuse and rape" For the first time in my life I actually think burning books might be more appropriate than reading them.

I get the proving our case perspective but... I hate that proving the case involves driving even a little more of the AI systems planet burning energy and water consumption to ask these things questions that nobody needs a computer to answer just to prove that these things are a bit shit.. Just remember, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence; all the AI bros should be held to that standard.
Our collective claim that AI is kinda shit is not extraordinary, and is best proven by just walking away because AI is just not very useful.

You are free to disagree but as a man who wants to be considerate and respectful to all people, this is my take on your comment.

Assuming fake and appreciating anything that doesn't contravene your own boundaries is vastly insufficient. The creation process is irrelevant. The objectification and accompanying dehumanisation is the problem.

That woman was denied agency in a manner that any and all right thinking men should be denouncing as being outside their boundaries, regardless of whether you have ever encountered the person in the images... If you aren't objecting, you're complicit as a member of the audience.

An proven moron said something mind numbingly stupid. News at 10...

Why do people keep giving this idiot exposure?

I remember when insane people were given psychiatric support instead of vast amounts of money and public speech platforms.... I miss those days.

All the proposed services/technologies would benefit the wider consumer base and the user but switching is too big an ask for many people. We need to encourage people into using "as well as" the global defaults. That will build the network effects that lower the cost of fully switching

An easier and bigger immediate impact would come from people replacing Chrome and google search with respectful alternatives, and/or replacing gmail or outlook with private services like proton or tuta.
Starve the surveillance machines a little bit.

If they want voter information don't they just ask Microsoft? Or Facebook? Or Google/Amazon/Apple? Pretty sure any one of them are more than capable of supplying far more detailed information than a state government.

Brave New World has to be on the list. In many ways we already walked into the brave new world while worrying about 1984
