It's a cultural thing. In Poland because of the climate, central heating and probably some other habits everyone has a carpet so you take your shoes off because carpets are hard to clean. In Spain because of the climate you don't have carpets because stone floors help cool the apartment down. Bare stone floors are easy to clean and are cold during winter so you keep your shoes on.

I honestly don’t really get what there is to gain by using “Desktop Linux”.

More freedom I guess. I remember my n900 and how fun it was to just ssh into it and dig in my home directory, install apps with packet manger, edit config files with vi and so on. It really felt like having small Linux machine in my pocket. With Android everything is definitely more locked up but then again, I'm not sure what would I do if it was more open. Writing apps for Android is easier than for desktop (or just as easy), there are no more hardware keyboard phones so using terminal on them is terrible anyway and phones just work anyway so there's no need to mess with the configuration. Personally I mostly gave up on the 'Linux phone' idea and if I need any new features I will simply write cross platform app that runs on Android (for example with tauri).

The entire Ireland is in the EU already. Northern Ireland can access the single market without checks. The checks are between Ireland and GB.

This has been said so many times it's boring: chihuahua with a bad owner never killed anyone.
Also: would you support mandatory background checks, permits and training for pit bull owners? To make sure that they only go to good owners...

Never heard about it. My GF vapes and the vape is simply a battery with a charger. The liquid container is exchangeable. You refill it and when it runs out you change it. There's no maintenance. And even if it were true what do I care? We're supposed to contaminate the environment with batteries because some people are inconvenienced by their addiction? As I said, this product is not needed and should be banned.

I've seen that movie. It was really good. Maggie Gyllenhaal was great in it.

I think it was 10 day week with only one day weekend. So 9 days of work instead of 6. Not sure why people didn't like it.

I think the main problem is that IDs accepted by banks are not always valid for voting. I remember that in some state gun permit was valid for voting but student ID wasn't. It's all designed to skew the results just so slightly. Also, 5% of Americans don't have a bank account. In close elections those numbers matter.

Stop saying that. Not having kids is not selfish. Having kids is selfish. You create a human just because you want to own one.

Cool but this is still just installation, right? The app will still have to be signed by apple? I will still have to pay Apple to build and sign the app? That's the difference between android and iOS. On android you pay to put the app on play store. On iOS you pay to sign the app even if you're developing locally. And yes, not all apps require signing but some do. You have to pay apple just to build the app and put it on your own phone.
