What's wrong with a nose? :^(

[-] Ech@lemmy.world 31 points 10 months ago

Bobert is a dumbass, but this is so dumb. The crassness mixed with the refusal to utter a curse word makes it even worse.

Isn't this why a lot of companies have essentially mandatory vacation for their accountants? Gives a baked in reason to have another set of eyes on the practices of the department.

Could be worth looking into Misophonia. Basically it's an irrational anger response to specific noises that vary person to person. I don't know enough about it to say how it can be dealt with, but it may be something you could find a specialist for.

This is from the Categories portion of the Steam home page. Flabergasted me and I had to snip it.

Do I just completely misunderstand what a Rogue-Like is?

Go into the viewing history and wipe it. Then maybe view some more normal stuff to set it on a good track. That should give a good reset for her, though it wouldn't stop her from just looking it up again, of course.

I find your hyperbolic outrage over nothing "distasteful" and "disrespectful". Go to another instance if you feel so strongly instead of trying to rile up some sort of revolt against the admins as if that would accomplish anything.

You're linking your own post about assuming what the admins in .world have done as if it's definitive proof. After a definitive statement is made one way or the other, then you can start freaking out. Until then, just stop it with the conspiratorial garbage.

This is not a comment on you, but I do the same thing and have come to realize it's at least in part a response to being judged in some way (or feeling judged at least) over things I shared with my family, so now I just don't share.

If it's important to you, it might be worth having a conversation about why they are withholding and, if it's for similar reasons, addressing why they feel that way and assuring them you'll do your best to keep them from feeling bad about sharing.

Let’s all unite around pride in America instead of falling into the trap of dividing along lines of identity politics.

They say, totally not engaging in "identity politics" 🙄

$40 billion for outdated and outclassed infrastructure. Brilliant.

Would be better spent ripping the current fiber infrastructure that exists from the hands of isps holding it hostage and expanding it.

I feel like "mansplaining" has lost all meaning. It used to be about men going out of their way to correct someone that didn't need correcting, particularly if they were wrong themselves, and most often with women. Now people use it on men just...saying things to anyone.

I get that people are touchy on the subject, and I respect anyone's right to not want or need help. I think how Mr. Solomon handled it was correct - ask if they want your input and respect their answer. It'd just be nice if people didn't use cultural memes to dismiss others out of hand.

I've only gotten through a few, myself. House Flipper 2 seemed like an interesting iteration on the original (from what I played of that). Not necessarily for me, but I think it'll please those that are looking for that. I played quite a bit more Kingdom Eighties than I expected I would. Having just played the first Kingdom for the first time not too long ago, Eighties had a lot of changes that I was pleased with, and the theme is great. I will say that making an army of young children is...a bit iffy, hah. Though playing the "big kids" trying to protect their town is pretty nice.

Still have a The Invincible and Lies of P to check out this weekend, and whatever else seems interesting. Any recommendations for other demos that shouldn't be missed?

Reddit's actual daily users only equates to about half that number. While an interesting metric, Google search rates don't equate to users. Heck, my searching for that information contributed to that and I didn't click through to Reddit once.

Make sure to finish your quests* as you will get a 3 brand new ones after the update. Your weekly wins will also reset, so if you need or want the XP for your Mastery Pass, finish them up before then as it won't carry over.

*Worth noting that there is occasionally a glitch where the quests will get "stuck" right before the update, but still award gold. So they can be "completed" over and over again for extra gold. It's happened at least twice so far, afaik (most recently with MOM). Up to you if that's worth saving a quest or two and playing right before the update just in case.

Problems

Personally I'm pretty unimpressed with the mechanics behind "The Ring Tempts You" in the latest UB set. Lore wise, the One Ring promises great things, but never actually delivers anything other than ruin and the mechanic doesn't deliver on that. While I understand the argument that being a removal magnet is a downside on it's own, I don't really buy into it and at the very least, it's not enough of one on its own. As it stands, The Ring is simply all upside as far as I see it.

Additionally, the allowance of multiple ring-bearers (one for each player at the table) is a huge flavor fail. It's The One Ring, not The "Everyone gets one" Ring. This leads to my resolution of these issues -

Solution

My quick and dirty fix is that the Ring should be a unique effect per game that only one player can hold at a time, and an exchangeable boon like Monarch is, changing sides as the bearer is killed off.

It could still power up like it already does and obviously benefit the player controlling the ring-bearer, but adding the possibility of unwillingly giving that benefit to your opponent is very in line with The Ring lore-wise. This would also add some practicality to killing the ring-bearer instead of just removing the biggest threat on the board, which is the de-facto play in any game of Magic.

As I said, I am no game designer so I'm probably overlooking things, but I feel like this would work much better than the mechanic that we got. And while I obviously don't foresee any errata's coming from WotC for this, if I do play with LTR casually in paper, I'd probably suggest this fix as an improvement over the rules as written.

What do y'all think? Would this be an improvement? Or do you think the mechanic is better as-is?
