50% of the player count are bots that do not cheat ... maybe.

I have been thinking about this: With the recent advancements in AI could you build a bot that pretends to be a human playing the game (with some intentional flaws in its gameplay -- so no aimbot for example)?

I would imagine player behavior -- like movement around obstacles -- in tf2 would be a valuable data mine to train AI further.

Windows 11: Add advertisement to the start menu, add remote Artificial intelligence to your daily live. Require new CPUs and motherboards / hardware, ignoring the market for old computers.

What will they do next?

  • More advertisement.
  • More features that require an always on internet connection?
  • Forced restart for software updates

This is why I expect Linux share to slowly increase until the old computers die and you will not be allowed to choose to boot another operating system besides Windows on your Microsoft-Copilot+ PC that would be your only option.

When playing on community servers I never witnessed aim bots until now.

  • Uncletopia servers are okay...
  • there are funny inofficial game modes like:
    • x1000 multiplies all weapon stats by 1000
    • classwars one team is one class. for example medics vs scouts
    • randomizer, get a random weapon (for example Medigun as heavy)
    • jump training maps: solve pakours
    • grappling hooks on ctf (community maps like ctf orange)
    • 100 players in one server

So: Community servers should be used more often by normal players, they offer diverse different maps and gamemodes and are a decentralized solution to the bot problem.

In 2020 according to statistics 82.66% of all americans lived in cities, not spread across half the state. Urban areas and country side should be developed differently of course.

Wtf are the BB pirates planning after getting Saturns appearance? "The World?"

If I remember correctly all important news was read to him. Like the news of Aces execution or the incident of Dragon vs Blackbeard at Baltigo.

The information in the newspaper about getting Yonko Status could be deduced from an image. And as far as we know Luffy has never gone to school. So is he an illiterate?

Now I Question why this should be better than wood? While trees grow fine in nature without human presence, the Mushrooms breeding has to be closely monitored and energy has to be invested into nutrients and temperature regulation. Maybe wood and Mushrooms could be combined but I do not see this completely remove the wood use case.

Lawyers and copyright issues-- the legal system, they are probably always bombarded from all sides by the legal industry and content creators on copy right issues.

I think that the additional weight on the water on the surface of the outer airplane body increases friction with the air, and also weight of the aircraft. But does the fuel consumption increase? And by how much?

In chapter 385 Lucci states

You learn the name of the fruit when you gain its power

  • so why did Luffy not learn the name of the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika after eating it?
  • or did he mean you name the fruit yourself after learning of its abilities?

Is there a map that shows the minimum recorded temperature for each spot on earth? This would be interesting to see the coldest places on earth, and also see the countries where water never freezes because of ambient temperature ... I guess the every spot in the US would still be under 0°C ?

I only found this map of global average temperature, not minimum temperature?

Purely text based content is way easier on the servers. If all Lemmy users uploaded videos and high res images all the time, the servers could not keep up, right?

  • consider that they use hardware that is run on donation (or their own) money

I lately learned about memory allocations and use of malloc. The malloc command is defined in the POSIX standard, as can be seen here It says

The order and contiguity of storage allocated by successive calls to malloc() is unspecified.

So what is the default allocation strategy malloc uses on Linux. Is that allocation strategy different then from windows/ macOS or Android?

I heard malloc on Linux uses the Buddy memory allocation strategy is that true, since on wiki it only says the Linux Kernel uses it, but not Linux itself, idk?

  • 👎 Con reddit: Buggy web page on desktop. It always asks me to use the app on mobile. No thanks.
  • 👍 Pro: Lemmy: fast loading web page, no banners. It works.

Since Lemmy instance are not backed by commercial interest, but rather by nice volunteers and donors that have money and time to spare, they will be heavily affected by economic downturns (we still can see commercial interests still affect users negatively tho with reddit). Here are my thoughts on the matter:

  • as far as I understand the owner of the domain: https://lemmy.world even has to pay for this fancy domain name in the DNS system ... every month subscription service style
    • (and tbh I hate the Domain name system) why should I fund it with my own money?
    • if you hosted with an onion site over tor that expenditure would not exist, but how would users discover your site then? Let me know if you know something about this
  • in times of deflation (meaning money becomes worth more, spending some money on a self hosted lemmy instance becomes nonsensical)
  • tbh if I hosted a lemmy instance and the users of my instance posted high quality content in quantity I would use it to train my own LLM, that would at least create some economic incentive for me to host such a page ... but managing spam and bots will be HARD

That is why you should always back up your comments on your personal device, would be nice if lemmy had an automated way of doing this (I should look into this more)

there are multiple ways evil can behave on lemmy:

trolling

  • trolling, it is annoying, if 25% of all posts are troll posts, the site can be annoying to use.
    • content voting systems can mitigate this tho, but bots will eventually find a way to game this?
  • the difference between trolling and spamming (imo): trolls type in their message with a physical keyboard. Spammers use bots to automate trolling

(Bot) Spamming / automated troll farms

  • spamming, creates huge load on storage capacity of the server owner, not good if you host for ~~free~~
    • spam can be hard to detect in the age of chatgpt LLMs in general, because normal spam would be detected by how random it is. for example

adfjakjdfkl would be easily detected as spam

  • spamming huge amounts of text is still better than spammers creating huge amounts of video and photographs
  • proof of work algorithms can mitigate this issue somewhat, tho this also makes performance worse for everyone

any other thoughts on proof of work, or how evil doers can behave on social media sides?
