I find Fedivideo is quite a good place to start finding stuff. But would be interested to hear from Framasoft their ideas. https://fedi.video/

Save our Greenbelt Stop Europark (you.38degrees.org.uk)

"We oppose ANY building on this greenbelt land.

We are trying to save our GREENBELT from an extensive plan to build 3000 LUXURY houses, shopping centre, cinema, office units and commercial units. The area in question is an area of immense beauty and has been untouched for generations - wildlife and countless plants, animals and insects live here, as well as providing peace and serenity for hundreds of local people. 3000 New luxury Home will decimate this land, cause extreme traffic problems and pollute the environment. The air around this area is already above the accepted level of pollution

We would ask our representatives to contact the developer and urge them to focus on investing in developing the brown field sites and land designated for building in Airdrie This Proposed development will affect everyone, especially if you live in Carnbroe, Sikeside, Cairnhill, Brownsburn, Gartlea, Calderbank ,Chapelhall and Holytown

Please visit or join our group on Facebook

stop the europark development"

Get Decked Games (getdeckedgames.co.uk)

A board games shop and hub for local gaming. The website is still a work in progress but does have a contact form. Be sure to mention the Lemmy if you do. Would be great to have more businesses and services realise how useful the Fediverse could be to them.

I'll try and find them. Think there must be at least one Glasgow one too.

Stubborn as I am I'll keep going. Maybe thete will be a few useful/interesting bits for someone to stumble upon in the future.

Trying to put together a Lemmy for our town (might end up just being me posting 😅 ). Any other Scottish places, events, things got their own going?

Coatbridge, Airdrie, and Monklands Rotary Club (www.coatbridgeairdrierotary.org.uk)

A rotary club is basically a kind of mutual aid network. The website for this one is a little sparse. Redirecting to http://home.freeuk.net/jmac/. So they could probably do with a little help with that. They are on Facebook mostly so could also do with being supported onto the Fediverse.

"Brownsburn Community Park LNR is an extensive area of grassland, woodland, and wetland. From an industrial past, the site is now a green oasis for local people and wildlife in urban South Airdrie. [...] In the centre of the park a small remnant peat bog, Gartlea Moss is a haven for drifts of flowering bog asphodel, bog cotton, and cranberries. Some of the wildlife often seen here are common garden birds, buzzards and roe deer. Water vole, a species of mammal which has suffered from long term decline, is also found at Brownsburn. There is fencing around the water vole area to help reduce disturbance to this rare species. The wildflower rich meadows are home to colourful plants such as greater butterfly orchid, common spotted orchid and ragged robin." - North Lanarkshire Council

A possible site for the Battle of Arfderydd. Between the King of Strathclyde, Rhydderch Hael, and the King of South West Scotland Gwenddoleu ap Ceidio. Gwenddoleu's bard was Myrddin (Merlin, yes that Merlin).

"Airdrie Astronomical Association was formed on 1st May 2009 by local space enthusiasts. We meet from September to May. Additionally, we are the curators of Airdrie Observatory.

We hope you find our website of interest and invite you to join us at one of our regular Friday meetings or come along to one of our events in the observatory. There is always something happening in our unique Observatory - from class visits, telescope tutorials and guest speakers, to open evenings, kids' activities and special events."
