Elon strikes again ๐Ÿ˜ช

[-] 4realz@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

But is it really?

Spotify is definitely not the villain here, they have created the best music streaming platform in the world. The big publishers also can't be called the villains per say, but it wasn't so nice of them to force a small startup (Spotify in it's early days) to sign contracts that will permanently force it to payout about $0.66 out of every $1 it makes.

Like the article explains, they can't price their services too expensively, because of competition. If Spotify becomes $25/month, most users will move to Apple Music or YouTube Music, etc.

Wooh. ๐Ÿ‘€. This isn't Spotify's fault. They can't pay artists if they don't have money.

Exactly, Spotify is stuck between pleasing artists and the big publishers.

Netflix and X are both Tech companies, so this is tech related content. Which follows Rule 2 of the community. Posting about 'Drake's new music video' for example will be "unrelated stuff to this community".

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I'll have to do some more research on Elon then.

[-] 4realz@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

That's business... Martin and Marc didn't take Tesla to $600 billion, Elon did.

I understand where you're coming from, but business is brutal and things like this happen in that world. PayPal (formely X .com) was also started by Elon, I don't think he "scammed/tricked" anyone on that. And he has made billions for his investors over the years. I mean Tesla is worth over $600 billion, due to the marketing genius that is Elon. [Mistake: Elon didn't start PayPal, just X .com]

This is what makes me contemplate whether or not he is a good investor. I mean, he played it too safe, and got lucky with Apple.

[-] 4realz@lemmy.world 17 points 9 months ago

Exactly, but "technically" he is credited as a founder. He's a really good business man.
