2xs is probably my favorite, but haven't read it since like '97 so take that as yiu will
That's two recommendations for 2XS, I guess I've found my next book. Thanks!
No sweat Chummer!
I really enjoyed Nigel Findley's books. 2XS, Lone Wolf, House of the Sun.
I haven't been able to find them online, and I have no idea how well they'd hold up.
Those are all available on kindle, thanks!
I had no idea! Thank you!
Oh, 2XS was great. It's been so long since I read them all. Might be time to revisit them.
I forget the trilogy / book names, but the ones dealing with Dunklezahns assassination were pretty great, from what I recall.
I enjoyed a lot of the novels. I should really check out the newer ones. Have almost all of the originals in storage.
I think the only one I've read was Run Hard Die Fast, which I probably bought for the cover. I remember it being fun and exploring a wide range of locations, including some more rural areas, which I always like to see in cyberpunk.
Oh my god I almost forgot.
Wolf and Raven. And a few other books and novellas that involve the crew.
I read Never Deal With s Dragon as my first ever cyberpunk/Shadowrun book and it made me a lifelong fan of the genre, so there's that. Maybe I should actually re-read them now as an adult, since I mostly really remember the first one, and a bit from the third.
Cyberpunk
What is Cyberpunk?
Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). If the punks aren’t actively fighting against a megacorp, they’re still dealing with living in a world completely dependent on high technology.
Cyberpunk characteristics include:
- Dystopian city setting where mega-corporations rule
- Full integration of technology into society, featuring cybernetic implants
- Outsider protagonists (punks) who often are very familiar with the technology around them
- Hard boiled detective and film noir vibes and influence
- Themes dabbling in trans-humanism, existentialism, and what it means to be human.
