Interesting, but not all that surprising, that there don't seem to be any long-term plans to go full electric.

Hydrocarbon fuels will probably be part of our world for a very long time. I wonder if F1 will actually be able to make meaningful advances towards widespread adoption of sustainable fuel.

I think this is great. The current hybrid powertrains are so complicated and expensive. Just move to zero carbon e-fuels like Porsche is experimenting with and simpler engines.

Yeah the e-fuels are crazy expensive; but the small volume that F1 would require would still probably be cheaper than the current total costs of all the hybrid stuff.

They legally can’t go full electric until something like 2035, formula e has an exclusivity license for that

That's interesting. I didn't know FE had an exclusivity license, let alone one until 2035.

I might have the year wrong but it’s 2030something

Please bring back the screaming engine era 🥺

Don’t really care for the noise, but I think synthetic fuel would make more sense than hybrid ICE in F1

F1 is not a technology driver anymore, it is a follower. They only adopt green technology as a marketing strategy, not with any sincere goals of pushing it forward globally.

Might be alone here but louder cars don’t make for better racing. I’d rather make all the cars quieter and do less damage to everyone’s hearing, make it more enjoyable to see in person, easier to hold races in heavily populated areas, etc…
