You don't need to minimize it, taking a first step in breaking a habit is a big deal! Good on you, and here's to your continued success.
Good for you. I stopped last September because I was going through tough times and knew that if I continued to drink, it could lead to self destruction as I have a history of drinking alcohol to deal with extreme sadness. I also started working out and eating healthy which when combined with no alcohol, I feel better than I have in a very long time.
Keep it up!
Every day is a big deal. They aren't any less important if your re-walking them either. It's the act of trying that's important, not the days behind your belt. Fucking awesome!
yesterday for the first day in around 2 weeks I had no alcohol, this is making it much easier to have none today.
I mean, that sounds like a big deal! Maybe not in the cosmic scheme of things... But I think it's a big achievement. I hope you're feeling great today not being hung-over. Though you're probably detoxing, so I bet you'll really feel great a month from now with no poison in your system...
So fucking stoked for you!!! Its so hard to get over that initial chemical dependency and building up the willpower to take the first steps you just took is MASSIVE, youve got this shit OP! Stay strong, but remember to not beat yourself up if you relapse, its really easy to spiral if you have a weak day and give in to the addiction. Just remember its a journey that starts hard, but gets more and more rewarding the further you get along the path.
Here's my story. Walked into work drunk at 9 am and got sent to HR. Yadda yadda yadda, detox, rehab, random tests for the next 18 months.
All the staff in the rehab said go to AA, so I went. First time in my life I felt like I was meeting people who understood where I was coming from. No pressure to do anything except stay sober. There are online meetings 24/7, and you don't have to turn on the camera or speak if you don't want to. Look for secular meetings if you're atheist/agnostic.
