Unknown?!?!? That's Fred! I'd recognize that guy anywhere!
Google Lens suggests it's probably a Yellow-Billed Stork, or possibly a Milky Stork
Based on habitat, Milky stork is more likely. Yellow-billed seems more to the African side of the world.
True, although it looks (from the similar images on the web when I added Kuala Lumpur) like they may be in a zoo or similar bird collection. I tried "yellow billed stork vs. milky stork" and there's something about one having shades of pink, but I forget which. Never seen either myself, even in a zoo.
Looking at Wikipedia entries, Google's ID by appearance seems good (but might also be a Painted Stork). However, Yellow-Billed Storks are African, and Milky Storks South-East Asia, so given the OPs location, the latter seems more likely.
I find the Cornell Lab's Merlin Photo ID very good, but it would be too much time & effort to download the SE Asia pack for one photo :)
"Unknown" .. Meanwhile, anyone who has seen a stork and doesn't understand birding shakes their head in disgust.
He looks like he is assessing whether you are edible.

Nice bird. Wish there was a banana for scale, my brain has some trouble properly scaling it.
here is another photo I took while stalking OP that gives a better perspective
Haha, thanks. I guess the fence has an odd size to my eyes in your original picture.

Feel free to share your photos and other birding-related content here. If a photo you post isn't yours, please credit the original creator! Additionally, it would be appreciated if the location of the sighting and a date were given when a photo or question is posted. You do not have to give the precise location, something like "Northern Idaho, June 2023" or even "North-Western US, June 2023" suffices.
