Damn this hurts. But if you’re already going through this, you might as well start putting yourself out by saying hello to whomever you can.

All this hard work to avoid the hard work of making friends.

Seriously, get a used set of clubs from a yard sale. Practice short game for like a month intensively and then just hang around a cheap golf course looking for 3s needing a fourth. Boom friends. I mean your friends might all be in there 40s with drug, back or wife issues... but they will all have some interesting stories and they will pretty much all be down for whatever if it gets them out of the house and away from adult responsibility.

Solid advice. You don’t even need to be good to have a good time or make friends. Also, some of the best games of golf I played were with dudes 40 years older than me full of stories for a time I wasn’t alive for. Highly recommend.

You should at least practice enough to be okay though. Otherwise you will likely slow down the game and piss more serious players off. Even if your group doesn't care, the group behind you might.

Or you could even do something fun with your time!

Also start playing a team sport an amateur, suburban team. You don’t have to be any good at it, you just need to try your best and importantly talk to the other people on your team.

A good dad and a good son doing their best to make each other as happy as they each deserve. Need more of this around here.

Whoever you are and however weird you are, there is already a weirder regular at your local card/tabletop gaming store. Just don’t show up smelly and you’ll make friends easy.

It takes so much effort from anon to imitate that they could easily find friends, woman, man, whatever. Nevertheless, it's touching how he answers their dad's care about them with that. They're not lost, they're just lacking directions.

Hot take, Dad should ask if his kid is even interested in going out and if they are, actually facilitate by helping them find activities they'd be interested in instead of just fucking crying on the couch over whatever imaginary life he imagined for his kid

[-] morphballganon@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Why on Earth was the dad crying? Feels fake

[-] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 year ago

Because the dad ain't got no friends either

[-] pufferfisherpowder@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Lol as if someone would lie on the internet and 4chan of all places!

[-] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Hard to relate to putting in this much effort to not make friends, it's honestly so much easier than all this extra work to avoid it.
