People down voting facts they don't like is giving me flashbacks to 2016...

Ignoring that polls show Biden is one of the worst candidates to go against trump isn't going to suddenly make Bidens chances improve.

It's just wasting the shrinking window of time we have to run a better candidate.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

The only saving grace is there's a full month between the RNC and DNC.

So if Trump's legal woes eliminate him from contention, and the convention nominates someone else, that gives Joe a full month to step aside and let a better candidate step in.

The problem with that scenario is the D's in power will push Harris, who is a WORSE candidate than Biden.

Biden's actions speak louder than his words. He's running despite knowing others poll better.

[-] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

that gives Joe a full month to step aside and let a better candidate step in.

What?

Biden said he's only running because trump is, but also claimed 50 other Dems could easily beat trump

And despite Bidens abysmal poll numbers, he's not stepping aside to give the party their best shot against trump.

He's not stepping aside. If he really just wanted to prevent trump from winning, he wouldn't be running again.

He just knows the best reason normal American have for voting Biden, is he's not trump.

Biden doesn't stand a chance against anyone else, and like Hillary he's willing to gamble America on it because he wants to be president.

I don't see a single scenario where Biden is not running unless he dies before the election. And that's pretty unlikely despite his age.

Joe said he's only running because Trump is. If Trump gets taken out, because of a conviction or something else, that gives Biden a full month between the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention to step aside.

Joe said he’s only running because Trump is.

And then immediately said "50 other" Dems could beat him....

Then refused to answer why he's still running when polls show he has about the lowest chance of any Dem to beat trump.

He's not stepping aside, it's just not going to happen.

I'm not even sure why you're taking his word on this, we've just spent almost his entire first term being told that of course his last set of election promises were lies, he had to lie to get elected. So why is anyone believing the stuff he's saying now?

It doesn't make any logical sense. Unless his supporters are following his lead and just saying anything they think will get him elected.

Which is the entire reason his poll numbers are so low, no one believes him anymore.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

If Trump gets bounced out, Biden will literally have no reason to run. The pressure to step aside will be real and he'll face a challenge at the convention.

[-] APassenger@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Ego. True believer in himself. Power. Legacy.

He's a sometimes boy scout, but I don't see a lifetime politician bowing out after getting the nomination.

[-] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

What is his reason now?

He admits he's not the only one that can beat trump, and polls show he doesn't even have a good chance at that...

So why is he running if it's not to stop trump?

And why would he drop out if Trump does?

You're taking him to say the only reason he's running is because he doesn't want trump to win. But it's likely not.

He likely meant the same reason Clinton's team spent donations from dem voters to boost trump during the primary:

When Republicans run someone like trump, it's the best shot a conservative dem can win, because there's a big difference between even a conservative dem and trump.

Rather than use that as a slam dunk to get a normal dem elected, were risking trump in office again to get someone who doesn't have a chance at any other Republican.

I'm not sure how to reply again without just repeating the same things over and over again

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

"So why is he running if it's not to stop trump?

And why would he drop out if Trump does?"

He has said, the only reason he is running is because of Trump, so like I say in my hypothetical, if Trump is out, Biden literally has no reason to run and has a month before the Democratic Convention to announce what he's going to do.

There is no statement NOW, it's all contingent on the Trump court cases, public opinion, and what happens at the Republican convention in July.

If Trump is out THEN you can look for a statement from Biden.

A conviction won't take him out.

A jail cell will.

As a member of the current media boogeyman group who is facing legal bans from receiving life-saving care: Can we please get our shit together? I get it, it doesn't feel good to vote for a candidate who does bad things. You know what's worse? De facto electing someone who does that same shit to a worse degree, who also does literally everything else wrong. I voted Stein in 2016 and have regretted it ever since. It didn't make anything better. I don't even feel like I "stuck it to the Dems". We all just suffered as a result. Please don't make my mistake.

[-] guriinii@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Don't forget Muslim and Arab voters. No way they'll vote for ol' Genocide Joe.

[-] K1nsey6@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

No one should be voting for the butcher of Palestine

[-] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago

Netanyahu is on the ballot?

[-] K1nsey6@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Netanyahu by proxy

[-] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

Good thing there aren't significant populations of those folks in swing states.

Oh wait

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

To the extent its even true its going to be a FAFO type deal for them, I expect. Maybe we'll learn this time /s

In America you get a choice between a bad government and a worse government.

You do not get another choice.

Yes, it sucks. Yes, we are slowly circling the drain. Yes, bad things will continue to happen because that's what America does.

So do you want a bad government or a worse government?
