I swear, if conservative business groups owned renewable energy companies, we’d be net zero now.

Oh boy, more conversations next time I visit my dad. 😑

Makes me wish I'd never told him my new car is electric. Every time I visit it's a very steep ramp from "How's the car going?" to a 'conversation' about how bad renewable energy really is.

You can’t just tell him to get fucked?

[-] lordriffington@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Sure, I could do that, but for a number of reasons I choose not to.

Your loss.

Enjoy being disrespected by someone for the rest of their life.

That's a lot of assumption from very little information.

This is the way.

Along with flooring the accelerator, and hearing him scream like a little girl.

This tells you everything you need to know about Dutton's position:

Dutton will make the comments on Friday at an event organised by the Institute of Public Affairs, a Liberal-aligned thinktank that has publicly opposed curbs on coal-fired power and has lobbied against the net zero by 2050 policy.

Talk about being down a rabbit hole...

Voldemort telling the LNP think-tank (IPA) that nuclear is the natural progression from coal.

I foresee an extended period in Opposition, for these forward-thinkers!

[-] b1_@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

Just ignore him - he's a troll. The idea of Dutton overseeing the construction of a nuclear power plant in Australia is a horrifying thought.

He’s not wrong about mini-reactors being the next big thing, but he’s disingenuous because he won’t invest in the training, or invest in the infrastructure needed to support it safely.
