A good budding discussion over at Native plants.

Any beekeepers want to chime in?

When you say space, do you mean land, or potted soil?

I land more under the gardening umbrella of knowledge but bees seem to be happy as long as there's enough flowers to make their time worth while. For me. That's my asparagus, my tomatoes, and my strawberries.

Dense plants that produce a lot of flowers might be your best bet.

Find a local nursery / seed supplier, and buy their native wildflower mix. Plant that where ever it will grow. The vast majority of species of bees in a given area are adapted to native plants. Invasive / non-native plants may not be a viable source of food for them. I have a huge number of bees that visit my yard, from making viable habitat over the course of years.
