Why the glasses, dickwad? Just run into walls like god intended for you.

[-] athos77@kbin.social 17 points 11 months ago

I'm just like, "Cool, guess we're doing away with Viagra, too, hunh?"

crickets, I'm sure ....

[-] HenchmanNumber3@lemm.ee 26 points 11 months ago

Subpoena his Viagra prescription.

I am in the IVF process right now. I keep proposing to tell every religious person I know that they aren't allowed to hug, kiss, or visit my abomination baby.

[-] Not2Dopey@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

Successful IVF parent here: it is a difficult, trying process but the reward is amazing! I tell our child that they were wanted so badly that we had to do some crazy things, but it worked.

Best of luck to you!

[-] TellusChaosovich@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

We didn't get very many fertilized eggs, so odds are we won't get a baby this round. This process is so disappointing at every stage.

[-] SkippingRelax@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Good luck with the ivf!

[-] negativeyoda@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

They won't give a shit about it after it exits the womb anyway

[-] HopeOfTheGunblade@kbin.social 18 points 11 months ago

Your omnipotent god can be defeated by humans with a few tools?

Puny god.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 18 points 11 months ago

If you don't know: IVF fertilizes an embryo in the lab and implants it into the uterus. Often multiple embryos are implanted in one procedure to ensure at least one is viable. If a plural pregnancy results, the mother can decide to "cull" the excess. (I don't remember the proper term but abort isn't it because you abort a pregnancy not an embryo)

In any case, anti-choice activists believe that all embryos are people. Which is clearly false since they don't have a detectable credit score.

[-] rainynight65@feddit.de 15 points 11 months ago

So contraception is bad, but IVF is also bad. Trying to stop yourself getting pregnant is bad. Trying to get pregnant is bad.

Can these drop kicks actually figure out what they want?

[-] Dkarma@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

Dudes wearing glasses talking about how other ppl shouldn't use tech to make their lives better.

[-] ChexMax@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Weird that a guy with a disability aid would be against modern healthcare. I know adjusting your eyesight and creating life are different, but they're honestly not that different. Both are just aids for body failures. Plus with stuff like micro plastics possibly affecting fertility, it's not like God is the one making these people less fertile. (Unless the micro plastics are part of God's plan, but if that's true, how come IVF isn't also part of God's plan??)

Same argument as People who wear glasses wage war against god.

Disclaimer: I believe people should use science. That's why we were given advance brains.

[-] spaceghoti@lemmy.one 2 points 11 months ago

Out of curiosity, how were we "given" advanced brains? And how are they advanced? Dolphins can do some amazing things with their brains that we can't.

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 points 11 months ago

Sure I don't disagree. I'm sure the dolphins will thank us for the fish when they leave the planet as is tradition for their people. In general, I Don't see animals making wonders that shape the earth or discovering secrets of the universe. Without human intervention animals will live in the wild and they will never be anything more than that. Humanity can do more like I dk make glasses for someone that needs them.

[-] spaceghoti@lemmy.one 1 points 11 months ago

That's a very human-centric view. We know that both dolphins and elephants have comparable brains, they're just different.

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 points 11 months ago

Certainly is and you are right. If you have the ability to do more and don't then Might as well be a normal animal and live like they did in eden as "god intended" for the original prototypes. A fish that doesn't swim is not using it's best attribute. Humanity best attributes are intelligence, imagination, innovation and the will to use all 3. That combined with the extended life gene (relative to most animals) to learn from experience got us were we are today. So all I want are leaders that know what got us here and STFU on crap like IVF. If it's unnatural than so are glasses and literally everything humanity does.

[-] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 10 points 11 months ago

maybe that god.

my god says ' you're not boutique engineering your kids yet?! '

[-] spaceghoti@lemmy.one 9 points 11 months ago

Pfft. There's no war if the other side never shows up. This battle was over long, long ago. Yahweh forfeited.

[-] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 8 points 11 months ago

That just makes it sound metal.

[-] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

If we are waging a war against god, but nothing happens or changes... What the fuck kinda war is it then. The name is definitely better than the war itself.

[-] slurpeesoforion@startrek.website 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I have no want or need for ivf. How might I wage an assault on god?

[-] Daxtron2@startrek.website 5 points 11 months ago

Donate to your local satanic temple chapter

[-] slurpeesoforion@startrek.website 2 points 11 months ago

As far as I know, I am my local TST chapter. I donate to myself constantly.

[-] PlasterAnalyst@kbin.social 8 points 11 months ago

It's an expensive procedure, so they want to lay the groundwork to be able to exclude it from health insurance by claiming "religion."

[-] doublejay1999@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

And winning 💪

[-] Xariphon@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

How do we make this grounds for disqualification?

[-] solidgrue@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Even if they are, so what? "God" isn't a thing in secular life.

[-] fubarx@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago

Doesn't IVF involve masturbation, followed by medical implantation? Wonder which part god has a problem with? The first, the second, or both?

Because if it's the first, he may have some issues with his teenage nephews.

[-] shiveyarbles@beehaw.org 3 points 11 months ago

My God is a giant dish of pasta

[-] marco@beehaw.org 1 points 11 months ago

Ramen to that.

[-] WetBeardHairs@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I've heard from people who were conceived by IVF and the general consensus is "Don't." If you can't conceive normally, then don't brute force the process and give your future kid all kinds of genetic disorders because you're lonely. It has nothing to do with god - it has everything to do with not causing a lifetime of suffering of for your child.

edit since you are all intent on downvoting me for saying the truth: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3650450/

[-] zout@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

That's wierd, I know some people who were concieved this way, and they're just normal people. with normal health.

[-] TellusChaosovich@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I think you are blowing these findings out of proportion. Having a baby in any way comes with a degree of these health risks, and IVF babies are a bit higher. Doesn't mean no one should have IVF babies, just as it doesn't mean no one should have naturally conceived babies. Everything in life comes with risks.
