And this is why I use laser printers
Epson Ecotank FTW
They've got their own issues (at least the first few gens had an ink sponge that would become full and was not replaceable at all so you had to throw it out and buy a new one), they are definitely better than any HP inkjet, especially the "instant ink" ones. The best option, especially if you can avoid color prints, is a b&w Brother (or similar) laser printer. They are built like tanks.

Laughs in Brother's Ink Tank system
I love my current Canon Printer as a budget option but I would really like to get a nice Ink Tank printer. I would never even accept an HP printer under any circumstance, I'm disturbed by the idea of even having one on my network. If my options were the print shop or HP printer, I would visit that print shop almost every day.
